Yeah I don't think any of us would mind a few hours a week. there is not a TV show on that could hang with this guy. I mean he takes his time not only to do things right but to tach us to do them right, these car building shows show them starting a weld and 2 minutes latter the entire chassis is welded up. At least here it is very detailed and you can truly learn. I am building a hot rod and a lot will relate. I even using his zip ties with the rubber coating to protect wiring. very good product. This many is no dummy and his work ethic is second to none.

Got to see the outside of the Patey hangar at least :-)) It's going to be education based as ever, various history bits, science/engineering behind, showcasing planes and pilots and famous aviation things in history, "Experts in Planes" where I fly some expert around somewhere scenic while we discuss their expertise in some area and cool things about that, etc. Etc. @@MikePatey it's guys like you that make it all worth while. When I signed up, I was an immature 18 year old. Yeah, I knew I might be called upon to make the ultimate sacrifice, but most people who sign up don't know that. Now, 45 years later, it's painfully clear that we're enlisting the wrong people, that it's the older guys who should be enlisting, since we have some concept of what it's all about. But, like you, I am so thankful for those young people who are willing to give it all, to lay it on the line. But, it's people like you who honor those who serve that really brings home WHY we serve our country, and what it means to be patriotic. YOU, and those like you, are the reason we are proud to serve, and are thankful that there are people like you worth being there for.

As a crew chief on KC-135’s, I spent many hours scraping conformal coating off of the insides of the fuel tanks that wasn’t prepped properly and was pealing off! Yes there were clogged fuel filters! If you get hit with a 50 bmg anywhere even with armor body plating, will still kill you just from the recoil effect of liquidating your organs or your meat. The shock from the energy would either push the steal plate through your body, or the shock will liquefy your organs.

Professor Patey....The detail, planning, imagination, engineering acumen, craftsmanship with multiple machines, tools and materials is astounding. Your solutions for the different situations you find yourself in, during the building process is positively fascinating. I watched every video of the building of Draco and now the building of Scrappy and I'm thankful to be on the fabrication journey with you...thank you so much for sharing through your well produced videos. Being former Air Force, I'm glad to see the C-130 squadron recognize you as the Aviation Pioneer the you are. I'm going to the shop now to see about new of those shirts! Thank you again Mike!

I completely agree that I am very interested in Draco X, even more so than this build. However, the more I learn as I watch the Scrappy build, the more I am in love with this little hot rod as well! It's funny-in the years that I have followed the Patey family (and the rest of the Flying Cowboys) I have often daydreamed of owning my own bushplane. However, at my age and circumstance, that probably will never happen. I spent so much of the early part of my life chasing big checks (crazy hours, living away from my young boys, etc.) and blowing the money on God knows what, that I am content to earn a good living and enjoy the time I have left with my kids. The foresight, attention to detail, creativity, engineering, and craftsmanship that we all watch and enjoy lead me to two conclusions; I have to go see these guys and planes in Oshkosh and I have to get a ride in a bush plane one day!
