I said it then, and I'll say it again. Caleb Williams is gonna be more Cam Newton than Patrick Mahomes. The Bears should have kept Fields and traded the #1 pick. They could have still had 2 top 10 picks, First round in 2025, other picks and/or players. IF they didn't pick up a different QB this year, they would have been in a great position for 2025. Neither the team equity thing nor the medical thing actually affected the Bears though. The equity thing started as a report from his team and his agent like over a year ago it’s not like it was actually part of the negotiations he had with any teams. Also Caleb said he’d give his medical information to the teams that were in a position to draft him and the Bears were believed to be his most likely landing spot for a while so I highly doubt he didn’t share it with them right off the bat. He hasn’t done much of anything to the Bears good or bad yet
@Jakobian-m9i
@Jakobian-m9i Ай бұрын
Caleb Williams requesting a clause to avoid being franchise tagged isn't a big deal. It's actually pretty common for players to negotiate terms like this to protect their future options(atleast for veteran players)By asking for this clause, Williams is simply looking out for his long-term career and ensuring he has more control over where he plays in the future. It shows he's thinking strategically and wants to have a say in his career path, which is totally understandable. As long as both sides are happy with the overall deal, this specific detail shouldn't overshadow the positive outcome of reaching an agreement that benefits everyone involved.

Ya but the NFL isn’t going to bow down to what his dad wants, yes his dad Carl wants was turned down by the NFL every players has the same rights as everyone else that’s a first round pick #1 overall, so trying to change things like trying to not have to pay taxes on his $$, doesn’t want the 5th year option because of the $39mil will be reduced if a extra year is added & many more he’s trying to get, he’s using his attorneys that he uses for his commercial real-estate business that doesn’t know anything about the NFL contracts…..

I don't dislike Caleb Williams at all, but it is very strange to see people writing his actions off as completely normal. HIs ego/confidence, emotional nature towards the game/himself and his odd (for a rookie) contract demands/requests ARE a red flag. They can obviously be ironed out with proper guidance and just general growing up, but to act like its a non-issue is just strange. These issues have direct implications on his ability to deal with adversity, lead a team of grown men, and handle the insane pressure the NFL puts on QB's. If he's successful, he could become a diva and hamstring an organization, while conversely, if he struggles, he could easily self destruct. This is why rookies aren't awarded gigantic contracts anymore, and regardless of the entitlement he's feeling, he won't get that. I'd really like to see him become the great QB and be the leader of the next era, but I have some serious doubts about his maturity.
@filmjunkie-97

It would be an issue if Teammates in Chicago, LA, Norman, & DC didnt wax poetically about him. The ego stuff is completely overblown. Mist people who say things like this are looking for negatives
@illimitabilities
@illimitabilities Ай бұрын
@@filmjunkie-97 Very rarely do teammates, coaches and teams in general publicly talk badly about a rookie, especially a 1st overall pick. We also haven't hit training camp, preseason or even the regular season yet - when everyone becomes hyper competitive, rookie mistakes start showing up, and the losses pile up. That's when the cracks will either start to show, or the naysayers will be proven wrong. Also, the ego thing mostly stems from his interviews, quotes and how he generally carries himself. His arrogance is more than apparent. Simply paying attention to what he says and how he says it doesn't necessarily mean someone is looking for negatives, it means they're noticing something that COULD be a red flag. The rumors about contracts and other things are a different story.

Never seen a Offensive roster so stacked for a Rookiee 1st round pick. I do think that he's a overhyped and im not very confident in his ability as of yet and his behavior is worriesome it ebbs on the edge of entitlement without deliverying anything. I still think Fields would've been the better choice should've drafted around him and let him ball. As for the crying idk how to feel about it but it did show me that maybe he is easyly titled and anything negative will greatly impact him mentally its time to be a Pro and have some nerve and composure especially when your a Professional QB for a big market team. He's looking at over $25mil PLUS the extension$, PLUS franchise tag income if/when signed and he's playing games. The team could be getting valuable reps right now, figuring out each others' timing. Instead, the accountants are in charge and the OLine will have to take up the slack because Moore and Allen will have had limited playtime with Williams. Honestly him not wanting the no tag is smart cuz teams be using the tag against you when they don’t wanna pay you they use it so they can get your services for one more year without you leaving and then force you to go somewhere else to get paid so I agree with the no trade clause cuz I’m mad for tee Higgins right now what if he gets hurt playing on this tag and now his value is killed it’s dumb
