On March 23rd in 1969, when I was 19, I sang this song, 'Because', on a concert stage in Seoul - South Korea - at Drama Center of NamSan Hill. Mike Smith was the real musician. I believe I am the only Korean who sang this song on a stage in South Korea. I love this song very much. I am living in US now. It was so sad when he passed away too young.

Bless Mike Smith and his lovely voice. I feel fortunate to have lived in a time when musician/entertainers showed respect, dignity, and restraint. No twerking, no "wardrobe malfunctions," no dropping a lugee on the stage floor, a la Oasis. We must get back to the music, and to artists that entertain for all, in a respectable manner, rather than to suit only their own greedy and very ugly needs. If not for themselves, then at least for the sake of popular music itself.

I too grew up in those days. I hate to say this, but it's over. Music like this will never happen again. The filthy Greedy record company's will not allow it. All we can do is thank the lucky stars and be thankful we were there. Because indeed we are the lucky one's.

You are SO right about that, Edward! Jane Wiorek.. He was the lead singer of the wonderful British singing group, the Dave Clark Five!!. I think the best singer in rock and roll! He also played the keyboard.. He had a very tragic accident, in 2003, when he tried to climb a gate in Spain, outside of bis residence.. and fell and hit his head .. Was paralyzed from the neck down.. And died in 2008, from pneumonia, and complications from his paralysis...... His only son died in 2003, from a diving accident.. Mike Smith (a name hardly anyone remembers) was one of the greatest vocalists in rock. For me it was always The Mike Smith 5! The DC5 were influences on many groups that came later including The Ramones and Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band. For me Mike Smith and Eric Burden were the two best UK male vocalists of that era. Others, (Jagger, Ray Davies, Daltry, Beatles, Manfred Mann's Paul Jones, etc) may have been better "performers" but those two were the best singers! (Although Paul Jones is very seriously underrated and comes in at #3.)
