Hi Mike, A big shout-out to you for all the great work you’ve been doing here. I only found your channel a few weeks ago but subscribed pretty quickly. I completed my first pc build over the weekend (owned a lot of PCs but never built one myself) and your videos, especially on Kolink Citadel Mesh RGB, MSI B550m Pro-VDH wifi and BIOS setup, have been an immense help. I decided to go for the system with integrated graphics and chose Ryzen 7 5700G and everything is working really well so far. I’m using 1 TB Crucial P3 Plus PCIe 4.0 NVMe ssd at the moment but found out only yesterday that the processor doesn’t support PCIe 4.0 so I guess my ssd is not currently being utilised to it’s full potential. A rookie mistake/oversight I guess. Not all is lost, however, as I am already planning my next build, this time with a discrete GPU and a processor supporting PCIe 4.0 so I will just use this ssd in my new build and will get something cheaper for this one. Thanks again and I guess I’ll be back for some more useful tips and tutorials pretty soon. 😊

This feature is what was really needed with AMD's long socket support. Having to find an older cpu just to update was a pain in the back's bottom. I'Ll never buy a motherboard without that feature again, as I ometime forget to flash the bios to the latest one before fully assemble the new one with the newer parts, so resell it is not as easy as it should. I dont like having to remove the cpu and ram of a fully funtional computer just to flash an older board.

SUCH a helpful guide Mike! I'm honestly so grateful for all the videos that you pump out for us. You are genuinely one of my favourite content creators. Rather random question, but do you do a lot of gaming in your free time, and if so, what kinds of games? I've really been enjoying Red Dead Redemption 2 as of recently. It's a slow one for sure, but damn is it detailed! Cya Mike :)

thanks! we really appreciate that, a lot of work goes on here and we have pretty much given up our regular life to do all this, so comments like this make it see more worthwhile. Gaming wise being that we grab a few minutes here and there it is mostly the games that are in the benchmarks we do, for me mostly CSGO rocket league, Dead Island 2 wreckfest are the key ones at the moment

I just tried this and the bios flash has been in progress for over 20 minutes (this MB is for my son, I previously did this on my MB and it only took 5 min). Not sure if it's an issue with the USB stick being an older 2.0 vs 3.0 so that's why it was taking so long? From what I've read it's okay to turn off the power and retry it again since the Flashback option can be used for corrupted BIOS recovery. About to retry it with a USB 3.0 stick to see if that was the issue.

Hello Mike, I’m unsure if I have to update my bios. I just bought a computer and assembled It myself, I am pretty sure I assembled it correctly: My cpu: ryzen 7700 with integrated graphics. Motherboard: msi Pro B-650 s wifi 32 gb ram ddr 5 6400mhz (x2 16gb). Hard drive wd m2 1terabyte. When I first turn on the computer, it showed the bios were it did not recognize the m2 hard drive. i reset, and after that never again got image, just the computer being ON, fan working and the 2 red lights on (CPU and DRAM). Do You think I should update the bios? The same Way You showed, renaming to msi.rom? Thanks a lot!
@mikesunboxing7 ай бұрын
that is usually either the ram needs reseating in the slots or the CPU mounting pressure is to high. If you have an nxzt cooler this is likely on too tight
@Azadkanjo7 ай бұрын
@@mikesunboxing thanks for the answer. I decided to give back the hardware to the store and pay the 50$ fee in order to get the computer totally mounted and configured. Just in case I didn’t put the cpu cooler the right way, already too much time spent on this. I thought I could configure the hardware myself but finally I wasn’t able 😅. Kind regards!

I also have some other questions which maybe you know. My GPU has a tiny switch. What does it do? its an XFX speedster 6800. i cant find anything about it in the manual. 2. When i try to do a jump/test start and it turns on do i turn it off by the on/off switch on the power suply? 3. should i connect my monitor on the motherboard or on the gpu? i tried both, but both give the same black screen. 4. if i reset my bios with the flash method. Can i leave all the components like gpu, cpu, ssd on assembled?

I never did any BIOS update on my msi b650m tomahawk WiFi. Using a 7600x paired with a 4070 super. Everything works fine except when I tried to use a usbc 3.1 device in the port on the back and the device asked me to plug into a 3.1 port not a 2.0 port. So devices are recognizing my 3.1 port as only a 2.0. Looked into it and apparently this can be a direct result of not updating to the latest BIOS? Or is there just a BIOS setting that I can change to fix this?
