I went from rejecting the Bible’s teaching on sexuality, to grudgingly submitting myself to it (an important step!), to loving and rejoicing in it. Be sure to let us know how this works out for you ten or fifteen years from now. It is relatively easy to change behavior for a few months or even a year or two. Changing the sexual orientation you inherited at birth is another matter. Cures for homosexuality are not unlike cures for baldness that try to persuade you to trust short-term results and wishful thinking. (They always show you the client's hair "starting" to grow back but never show the full head of hair.) I don't know your background or what stage you are at spiritually. I honestly wish you the best. I cannot limit what God is willing to do for you through faith. I've been there; I do understand. You'll get plenty of thumbs up from the evangelical types as long as you claim it's working. But there may come a time after many years of struggle - usually in the sober, lonely hours of the morning when it's just you and God - that it dawns on you: it hasn't worked. You may be a better person for making a valiant effort, but what if somehow you did not morph into a fully functioning heterosexual by then? You will need to understand why God is not answering the prayer you are praying. Are you asking for the wrong thing? Is it possible that God does not want you to sacrifice the person He created you to be just to have it all work out neatly for heterosexual Christians? They will tell you that abstinence is your only choice. They will try to bind you to a burden they themselves are unwilling to bear. Are you satisfied with the kind half-life they want for you? Or are you prepared to receive an answer from God that may not please them, but may save your life? By all means do what the Holy Spirit directs you to do. Keep the faith and keep your eyes open. God is more wonderfully kind and liberal than any of us is prepared to accept. Do not close yourself off to any of the possibilities of that grace you celebrate.

@andrekershaw62442 жыл бұрын
@@j-mshistorycorner6932 Unless you mean in the general sense that God, who is perfectly holy, hates all sin, then no. The doctrine that sexual activity outside of marriage, as defined in Scripture, is sin, is not a hateful doctrine. Any understanding of love or hate that is not consistent with the character of God, as revealed in His word, is false. Without an accurate understanding of sin, there can be no accurate understanding of the only gospel by which we can be saved from sin. If you repent of your sins, which have brought you under the just wrath of a perfect God, and trust in Christ alone for salvation, then you can know that the penalty for all your sins has been paid in full by God Himself in the person of Jesus. This means peace with God and eternal life. Outside of this gospel, there is no hope for you. There is no greater love than this.

I found true love in Jesus, when I spent years trying to find it in s*x with strangers and dr*gs or any other worldly vain thing. That's how I think we try to exchange the glory of God... by trying to find it in the world. So He shows us the difference. God poured His mercy upon Me when I repented and asked for forgiveness and help in a desperate situation. He saved me from dying. God wants us to reach out to Him. Today I understand Gods love for every single one. God has helped me a LOT. Nobody can do this on their own. Although people tried to help them with great advice; secular and Christian, they refuse to take it as they seemed to like to waller in their misery. It was as if dealing with such conflict and misery was part of, "the gay experience" and it was expected. Such nice and friendly people were the ones I worked with, it was so sad to see them bound up as they were. One guy was so bound, he wouldn't even call a woman, "woman." Supporting someone in their sin isn't love at all. Instead, telling someone the truth is one of the greatest things you can do for them but as Paul said, we are to "speak the truth in love". Nevertheless, we also must stand firm against an anti-Christ culture that is promoting everything that is against God and rejecting everything God is for. We must stand with God no matter the cost. God's word should be upheld and people must be warned that if they continue in their sins and don't repent, they will suffer the consequences that lead to death that lead to eternal separation from God in Hell. The good news for them is that forgiveness, freedom from sin, change and eternal life are available in Jesus Christ who paid for their sins. If they repent, surrender and believe on the Lord Jesus as their Savior, they will be saved. That's as loving a message as anyone can give.

Well said, and once you have spoken the truth in love you become part of the process. You don't get to come in with your condemnation and pious admonitions and then duck out thinking you've done your duty. This is not a formula. This is love, and love must find a way to make itself genuinely felt by the person to whom it is directed. Anything less is counterfeit. Love finds a way and doesn't just stand against sin, but stands with the sinner. In standing with the sinner, a Christian learns to respect where the sinner is coming from. Only then is he in a position to judge rightly. If he cannot do all of this, it better for him to leave the condemnation and the calls to repentance to the person whose charity actually covers the multitude of his own sins.

Nothing is wrong with you, don't let anyone tell you otherwise. The roots of same-sex attraction in humans have been traced back to at least early infancy, some suggest that you're basically born that way. It has been observed in animals as well, so it's not "unnatural" as some people claim. It might have even helped our evolution along. Alright, let's go there: How do you know the truth is in the bible?
@icy0946 жыл бұрын
Right! This isn't about emotionalism. It's simply about what's true!
@icy0946 жыл бұрын
@Simon Botte No my friend, the truth is not subjective. All you've done is highlight the need for context when you read the scriptures. But context has never invalidated an eternal truth. And if you're interested in truth then you'll stop calling Christians phobic. We are not afraid of anything or anyone. We simply uphold God's truth and refuse to allow our fleshy desires to override His purposes and plans for humanity and society. When you use Old Testament scriptures to make your point you're not using ones that represents God's Eternal truths or principles. Some Old Testament laws were strictly social others were strictly religious to hold the Jews apart from paganism until Jesus came. Other Old Testament laws exist because they reflect the character and nature of God in His power and authority over the universe as its Creator. Violation of God's Eternal truth unravels the fabric of society which is exactly what Satan wants. And so Christians stand up and call this wrong. but as true Christians we don't hate any individuals. we all have sin. We talk about this particular topic so much because very few people acknowledge that it truly is sin, but will gladly acknowledge all of the other ones.
@icy0946 жыл бұрын
@Simon Botte Yeah and the nonsensical words and ideologies you're attempting to piece together aren't radical at all... without knowing me you've categorized me as something that I'm not. I have a bird phobia I can't stand to be around birds they terrify me. If one waddled up to me on the street I'd sooner run out into the road and get hit by a truck then be able to stand next to a pigeon. I have a love-hate relationship with beaches. Because I love Sun Sand and Sea but I detest seagulls. I've dealt with that my whole life. That is a phobia and an irrational fear. gay people do not have that effect on me or on most Christians and we don't treat them badly. We confront all human beings EQUALLY with the truth about Sin including our own. I'm very good friends with the transgender individual a few doors down from my church. We don't see eye-to-eye but that person is welcome in our church home. At the end of the day you don't know me and you don't know most Christians. You're simply doing what I expected you to do. When you couldn't uphold your argument with anything substantial or have a conversation based in intellect and knowledge of the Bible at all you went on an emotional rant misjudging and labeling me and others. I don't know how you think you're any different from the PPL that you say you're full of hate. You don't even try to understand the mind of God because he challenges what you feel like doing. that's what it really comes down to
@icy0946 жыл бұрын
@Simon Botte hey whatever you say man. Nothing that you're saying is true. Like I stated before we don't have a Westboro Doctrine we have a Biblical Doctrine. We confront all sin on a personal level with all people. First dealing with our own. Not everything can be fought from a legal or governmental standpoint but as far as the body of Christ forming relationships with individuals who live lifestyles of sin and sharing with them the transformational power of Jesus Christ, we do that. You can spew hatred against people who hold to a Biblical worldview when it comes to sexuality, but that's not going to stop the truth from being revealed when the Lord returns. I can tell you this much there won't be allowance for ANY Asin in the Kingdom and that includes the sin of homosexuality. When you look at the way Jesus governs his planet when he is ruling and reigning from the Throne of David on the earth at his return you will see that He is righteous and holy and no sin is condoned. Your opinions and emotionalism will not hold up in the presence of his holiness. You'll just be the one explaining to him why you decided to pick and choose to live by some parts of his word and not all of it. Be blessed and I pray that you find truth which is found in the real Christ. Not just the Jesus that makes you feel comfortable

I'm old enough to remember when Christians were fighting against divorce. Then they all got divorced and moved on to fighting against gay people, which is this generation's new equivalent of a food taboo. Paul in Romans uses the exact same expression ("contrary to nature") to describe God's grace to the Gentiles, and gay sex. I give Paul way more credit as a rhetorician than most people. He did that intentionally. Overthrowing prejudice is a major theme in Romans, if people care to look for it.

I've taken two strategies when talking with her: keeping children from playing in the street as love, and talking about things like lying or gossip as sin. It didn't matter. She saw condemnation of homosexuality as hate of her daughter. Ultimately, her position was clearly based on emotion and not reason.

That’s because we want to whitewash the bottom line, God calls it sin and His righteousness demands that it deserves His wrath! Love will compels us to preach the gospel, Jesus is the answer, rejecting sin acceptance of Christ and His payment for my sins!is the way!
