Ran through $200 in retail vale of lures just to catch them on a mepps spinner. September in Massachusetts just be like that. I had no luck on a fluke & I watched another guy throw keitech swimbaits that whole day & caught a 4lb as it was getting dark on a black senko wacky rig. Next day I caught atleast a small bass- 3lb on 10 white fluke.10 fish in about 60 cast. Soon as I ran out of the white I didn't get another one for the next 2 hours. I pulled a white one from a tree branch & threw it on and caught a pb white perch.

I agree good video I use small piece stainless welding rod inserted in the fluke different size and length 1/8 and 3/32 can insert it into the head section to make the fluke nose dive or toward the back and it will sink flat the swivel is a must small as you can get away with love a fluke all spring and summer as well as early fall with thanks for sharing 👍

Mikey, I’m old(76) and back in the day and now catch & caught tons of bass all over Texas on the old SLUGGOS. I have molds I made and pour them today. We/I would take the lead peg weights(they come in different sizes and can be cut into smaller pieces) and you stick the peg into the body of the fluke/sluggish/bass assassin. With the lead peg placed internally you don’t have grass hang up. You can twitch it just as you suggested, and I suggest to others to pitch it 8-10 ft long side the boat and twitch it several time pausing and watching the reaction you get with Rod tip or reeling. That’s what your going to get when you cast it out there. I also push my hook through and shin hook the point on soft lures if they don’t have a hook slot. I think this far easier and less time consuming when out on the boat and rigging up. The lead does not effect the ability of the bait gliding back and forth. Try it…pitch it along side the boat and watch it dance. The peg weight works great on big soft lures such as big worms and other new big lures. Tex- rig the hook, with a peg in the body of the lure. Toss it on top of hydrilla and crawl it across to pot holes. Stick a rattle in it. Take the lead peg poke a hole, slide the rattle in the hole, cast it out there and watch the explosions. Rick Clunn taught me this on Lake Conroe in the 80’s when the hydrilla was so thick. Fishing is a creative sport, just one of the reasons we love it. Tight lines all’

Lake Oneida, use a white fluke and Yum craw spray. It turns the fluke a mild pink color. Smallmouth will go insane to get this bait. Spray the package of fluke lightly, not to heavy... I hate to give this tip away... I think it's all about the color...

THAT WAS A GREAT VIDEO! Just last week ran into some huge bait schools on the shallow side of a no wake zone where much deeper water rose to 2-4 ft. The bait school overlapped like 4 ft down to 20 ft. and there were plenty of 2-3# LMB. You didn't get hit on every cast by no means, but picked off 6 or 7 in a half hour's time on a simple mojo rig with trick worm and midsize brush-hog. I'm going back with a couple flukes this week - a non-weighted one for the shallower action and a weighted one for the deeper water. Thanx for inspiring me to go find that huge selection of flukes hiding somewhere in my garage!

@michaelliebow7353 жыл бұрын
I don't think it would really be the same finesse style bait but snap jigging it on a jig head or working it like a 1/2 oz hair jig with reel pumps gets an insane reactive response. This is something I mostly do for stripers in salt water but I have seen similar things done in fresh water. Might just be a different look as compared to a hair jig in your arsenal. Most people don't realize but fast pumps or reel flares make the flaps flutter and the tail swing.

A good modification i do with my flukes in early morning in the summer and early fall is.. that a pop rivet all stainless steel, heavier than aluminum, knock the pin out and use the pin to hallow out the nose of the fluke and take the button of the pop rivet flat side facing the belly on the inner slot and run your line through it, use a #2 trbble hook with a small slip ring... the hook up ratio is insane! Never loose a fish.. alot of the time i have trouble with ewgs getting a good hook set.. also adds the PERFECT amount of weight to help ot dark and sink just right, good for open water or submerged grass twitching overhead

Can you post of picture of this rigging?

If you take the clip on leads and use a drill bit the size a little smaller than the hook shank and drill each one they won't come off . Allows much better crimping to hook. That's what I do to all my belly weights
