I also fear snorkling, not so much the wildlife though. Not sure if this makes sense, but I'm afraid of underwater heights. Not regular heights, just underwater. I realized that the first time I dunked my head down the deepest pool in the public swimming pool in town. Must've been like 10 meters or something, idk, but it was high. I sat on the edge and dunked my face in out of curiosity, and I felt my heart sink into my stomach seeing the bottom and had a panic attack xD

Your very safe down in the water as you are more accepted as a marine creature and are at extremely low risk for an attack. Xoxo

I have two memories of snorkeling. One in clear water seeing coral and all kinds of fish swimming around. The other my entire family being dragged into the water by an undertow and a strange woman telling me it will be okay.

i have the same fear of being in the ocean. when i first went snorkeling in cancun I snapped underwater pictures of myself with an underwater disposable. when i developed the pictures, there was a barracuda chillin behind me in one of them !!

One of the best place to snorkel is Hanauma Bay. I know there are alot of tourists. But it is still a fun place for beginning snorkelers.
