I've eaten at a high-end tempura restaurant in Japan many years ago. It was so good! We sat at a donut shaped table with the chef cooking and serving us from the middle. You don't realize how good tempura is when its served hot and fresh.🙂

Using the last bit of energy I have, I crawl my way there at like 5 in the morning before the first train back home. 😂 So glad I decided to temporarily live in Japan, huge cultural difference from the States and the food is just chef’s kiss.

The original bowl was rectagular. to resemble the Jubako box. If you eat it in Fukuoka, most ichiran used the rectangular bowl. Thats the original.

@@foodmore thanks for the info, didn't know that. I'm still personally not a fan because it feels like there is less broth.
@foodmore5 ай бұрын
@@Brazuken my very first ichiran experience was more than 14 years ago. And I first ate it in Fukuoka and they served it in the rectangular box. So once I started eating at other Japanese cities and encountered the round bowl, I actually felt it was weird. But to be honest I think eating from a round bowl is more efficient.

@Desmond_Kumar7 ай бұрын
Umami and Savory are technically two distinct profiles. Savory generally refers to spicy+salty with little to no hint of sweetness and activates the salty taste receptors flanking the front portion of your tongue. Umami is used mostly in the context of meat dishes and refers to the salty+meaty taste that lingers for a while. Think of anchovies, for example.
