It's possible I Have screwed up. Follow the instructions on the pattern just be sure.

Did they make a mistake in the pattern? In the pattern for the first row of the Mosaic pat section,14:36 ,it says to continue with Oatmeal which was used for the two rows prior, then it’s suppose to be switched to Charcoal for rows 3 and 4, 19:17. But doing so would make the first 4 rows ( like your gold and gray) one color. Is this correct? I’ve just gotten to that area and I don’t want to make a mistake and have to go back.

That's a great question. I really don't know if they made a mistake or whether it was me. I would think go with your gut instinct.

Cherry Berry, This may be too late but yes, they did make a mistake. Where it states to Join A , it shouldn't, you should still be using C. A doesn't start until the beginning 8 rows of the mosaic pattern.

While this is a wonderful design and I plan to crochet this myself; it's not a mosaic crochet stitch. I don't know why he calls it that. And unfortunately I'm not familiar enough with this stitch to say if you can do an Apache's Tear design with it. But, there is an Apache's Tear stitch in true mosaic crochet. In true mosaic crochet, you do not turn your work or chain where you plan to double crochet. True Mosaic will be striped on the back. There are tons of wonderful videos showing how to do the mosaic crochet's Apache's Tear design and it's a great stitch to learn for beginning mosaic crochet. I hope this helps a little. =)
