This is one of those freak injuries where no one is at fault -- Sergachev didn't put himself in a bad position, Lafreniere didn't make a dangerous or reckless play, their legs just got tangled up and Sergachev ended up falling backwards on his leg. His ACL is 100% toast, there's no way it stayed intact through 180 degrees of external rotation AND 180 degrees of flexion on the knee. That's worst-case scenario. I feel for both of these guys -- both for how devastated Sergachev must be from such a career-altering injury, and how gutted Lafreniere must be from accidentally injuring someone so severely. Good sportsmanship from all parties involved.

Trainers will do anything at that age to keep you on the field if you are a vital piece of the team. Team lost in state 1/4 finals that year. Same year, summer i went to back to box lacrosse and sustained acl tear which ultimately ended any sort of comeback story after the break.

Him hiding his face in anger, pain, and/or tears is hard to watch. Wishing him a complete recovery for next season.

I love how lafreniere felt bad for his hit( 1:00 ),and him patting him on the knee such nice gesture.

I hope he's not so hard on himself, things like this is just a crazy accident, can happen to anyone, standard reverse hit, their legs tangled up unfortunately.

These players hate each other come game time but in reality they are ALL on the same team for the love of Hockey. For him to tap Sergy as a gesture of compassion says alot to the respect to the player. Its still hard to be that guy that may be the person who checked a player into being out for the rest of the reg season.@@karlkarlsson9126

it looks pretty bad but I seen a lot of players having a similar fall and they pretty much all come back but he's pretty much done for the season
@nathanhannem29433 ай бұрын
@@videogamenoob100he’s most definitely done for the season. Best case scenario is it’s a broken ankle. But that looks like extensive ligament damage too. I pray for his recovery to be swift, hopefully he will be able to play in the next season

Out for 17 games just for this… so unfair. I hope Sergy can return for playoffs 😢

Tampa will have a lot of capspace come TD. Sad for Sergy tho! Hate to see such talented players get injured so much!

It's funny that the commentators were saying that maybe the Bolts need to make a trade with their D-man and that they need some cap space and this happens. BTW great name.

Had that same ride off the rink one day 20 years ago. Much lower level than nhl. Knew it was over for good on the way out. The tears flow without much control. 😢

Wow. I’m a die hard Lightning fan and I’ve been dreading watching this video for 48 hours now. I have to say that was an awesome reverse hit from Lafreniere. I weep for Sergachev. When I heard he got carted off in his first game back from lower body injury I was gutted, but to find out he fractured both tibby and fibby is just so sad for him.

Being a lightning fan it truly hurts to see that sergy finally come back to playing again and now he’s out again this is very reminiscent of stamkos’s injury when he hit his leg on the goal post at td garden.
