I'm brand new to these 2 programs. So if you could possibly dumb it down for me like I'm 5 lol. What is it that Marmoset is doing that Substance Painter can't do, that makes you need to use 2 different texturing programs?

Marmoset Toolbag is a rendering engine that also has texturing capabilities, but Substance Painter is widely considered the industry standard for texturing software. While Marmoset is newer to texturing, if you can get used to it, it has the potential to be a great texturing tool within a rendering engine. However, in general, it's not on the same level as Substance Painter in terms of texturing capabilities.

@@MehdiBeheshti-mirage3dart Uh okay. So I'm assuming he rendered the glass material then brought it back into substance painter, correct?

@@SkintSNIPER262 no, the workflow was simpler, i just created the glass and metal parts in painter, and then export the texture out of the painter. Now i have a texture set that can be used in any software, in this video i used the marmoset toolbag. Create material, fill it up with the textures, and apply it to mesh, and done.

Well done!! p.s: Which version of Painter are you using? In the shader parameter (I've SP 2021) I don't have your parameters....

what's different between translucency workflow and opacity ?

at first, this workflow can give you better visualization in 3d viewport in substance painter, if you export your asset with USD from substance painter you can have your glass shader, add more parameters (like absorption, IOR and SSS) to control for substance and other engines, and more important reason is when you need both opacity and glass part at the same time, and so on!
