Great video, I have done the mod myself to my own 240 and I find that the short shifter is a lot more stiffer feel making it more difficult to select gears 1, 2, 5 and R and I find my self going from 1st gear to 4th gear because the shifter naturally wants to pull towards the middle as soon as you take it out of 1st . Other than that I'm happy with the overall performance of the short shifter kit

I honestly like the regular, longer shift distance. You don't have to be extremely precise with your hand, and still have the leverage of more distance to move between gears. Comes down to personal preference.

Scott Hansford circles have an infinite amount of corners. Although it's a finite length of 2*pi there will always be a rational length that's a little bit farther than the one you're comparing it to thus giving a new tangent (by the property of circles and tangents). So you're wrong.

ast5515 I just checked Summit Racing. They do have Steeda short throw shifters for the Ford Focus, not sure what year yours is but I searched for the 2003 model since it is the middle for the first generation. Summit Racing usually carries quality stuff in my opinion

Damn, man. Didn't knew about the IB5 thing until I searched around.Read through the forums and people said that there was no development for the IB5 and only for the R65 and MTX75. They said it felt good as is or you could just chop it. Found this though, not sure if it will work : www.ralcorz.com/Ralco-RZ-914824-Performance-Short-Throw-Shifter.html And this from Ebay if you didn't mind : www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ford-Focus-short-quick-shift-shifter-1-4-1-6-1-8-1998-2004-IB5-/181515722714?hash=item2a432e1fda:g:vdkAAOSwPe1UB5mN Again, sorry. Personally, I highly disagree with short throw shifters. I've done it in my S2000 and I hated it. It _looked_ good, but it made it harder to shift and time my heel-and-toe up shifts. When I got my STI, I kept the height at stock and loved how much EASIER it was to shift and time my heel-and-toe rev matching with the shifting. Just my own personal preference.

This seems like a great idea to me. A big part of the reason I decided to buy my MINI Cooper S is that the first time I drove one, I was thrilled by the nice feel of the shifter, and the relatively short and light clutch. My first two vehicles I owned were great for what I needed practically, but they were definitely not drivers' cars (being a '94 5-speed Ranger, and an '06 Prius). So buying a somewhat sporty, but cheaper car, and making the shifting experience great with simple mods is a terrific idea, imo.

I just bought a 9th gen Civic SI and it already had a ST shifter installed and an aftermarket sway bar on the rear. I have had it lowered, had the exhaust done, had my sound system hooked up and I've done a couple of visual mods like shift knob, interior lights, and aftermarket rims. It's looking really nice. It's the Dyno Blue Pearl so I have to be careful about putting stuff on it. I want the simple and clean look. I don't want a ton of random stuff all over it. Lol it'd be too much.

are all short shifters the same for every car or do you need to buy one specifically made for your car?

i never like short shifter, the reason why is somehow my hand ALWAYS move way faster than my feet, so basicaly almost like shifting gear with no clutch.. and you can say goodbye to the synchromizer....thats why i never had any short shifter mods in any of my car...

normalsalaryman sounds like you were just used to the stock shifter. It takes time and practice to learn. It's like shifting a completely different car.

Some cars like M-spec bmws come factory short shifters but if you daily drive the car you will get use to a new clutch, trans or shifter within a few hours of seat time.

This looks easier than a FWD shift kit because the FWD means you have to deal with cables. I'd use some white lithium grease on the pivot, pretty much what they use at the factory. As soon as I saw that thread I knew it needed blue Loctite. :)

I feel like you put the short shifter in backwards because its pointed forward when usually in many manual cars its pointed straight up or back

Hi Milan. I have a question for you. I just purchased a brand new 2016 Hyundai Genesis Coupe. I love the car except that the manual shifting is imprecise. For example, normally when you switch from 2nd to 3rd gear upon acceleration, it goes in naturally without having to position it yourself, but in my case I sometimes do need to position it properly. Is there a way to fix that in your opinion? And do I need for the car warranty to expire before I do this? Thanks :-)

Do you mean the stick doesn't center itself automatically? I think it's because the spring responsible for centering is too soft 😂. I never encountered this problem, just guessing
