in that case only ask them to cover theft and not damages, my friend did the same with an mr2 that he raced and as long as the insurance didn't have to cover any damages they were more than happy to give him low rates, but it depends if you are getting insurance for protection purposes or just so that you can legally drive on the road.

If you're buying a used car the first thing you should do is make sure all maintenance is done before any mods are done. Things like timing belt, fluid flushes, oil leaks, etc.
@nthgth4 жыл бұрын
Agreed and you may have meant this, but assume that none of this has recently been done so get it done yourself to be sure.

most sellers won't bother with this, and most of the time people selling their cars do so before the costly maintenance comes in, and you will have a hard time finding one that has done it before selling with it on record.

The first suggestion is pretty nice. Actually, I would add one extra thing: if you plan to use it on the racing track, inspect the car, change/replace what's is needed, put a good set of tires and test the car without any modifications. This will help you to determine what you need to improve in your car and plan better your upgrades and enjoy your upgrades even more than you would if you just upgraded the car and never knew how it was stock. Sometimes your engine is already enough for your purpose and upgrading it won't make your car much better without a proper set of tires and a finely tuned suspension.

The ECU part only applies to cars that have modern ECUs. Older cars that have hybrid digital or no ECU at all don’t apply I think Also when restoring an old car, aftermarket parts are sometimes crucial or optional since OEM parts might not be found on sale and increase performance overall

@muaminhugsy49647 жыл бұрын
Nope, it would be good to keep in mind that every type of car needs different modifications to make the best of it, many cars benefit from removing extra weight and restrictions such as computer limiters and such, and a good set of sticky tyres, in front wheel drive car, or any car for that matter, getting a good set of tyres and a good suspension setup and some more aggressive brake pads, maybe braided brake lines, all of that would go a long way. Just dont spend too much money on things you dont need like gimmicks or spoilers and such especially if its a street car. Also, do research about your car on respective forums and such before you decide to do something, sometimes finding problems your car comes with stock and fixing them and/or improving them could go a long way. Hope that helps. Don't forget FWD cars have been pushed through the whole world, theres time attack cars (look at WTAC Civics and such) and theres drag FWD cars, and street turbo FWD cars with pretty amazingly engineered parts.

6) Any engine mods you do to a modern car is gonna require some ECU tuning so that it runs right.
@yourjdmboirich31047 жыл бұрын
Bladed Angel please do a video on how people always start modding the engine first, i always see it, when someone gets a new car right away they go to the engine and slap a turbo and then they start having car problems, people need to start by deciding what kind of racecar they want it to be, it could be a daily driven drift car or a drag racer etc, next you should start deciding what mods you want on the car from body kits to handling to performance, then you need to make extra sure those are the mods you really need or want and last you need to start with handling, dont go to the engine first, its better to start with smaller cheaper and more basic mods like the suspension, steering wheel, steats etc. im a 14yo and thats what im doing its better to start this way cause then your gonna make a bunch of mistakes and waste alot of money its gonna be really frustrating. I see it on almost every car channel im subscribed to

1. It lowers resale value. 2. You either know how to fix it or take it to performance shop when it breaks because most mechanics wont touch a modified car. 3. Reliability issues (sometimes) 4.less daily drive comfort (sometimes)

When I hear about mods, I really feel I'm not a car guy since I've never found the appeal to modding my car, litteraly the only "mod" I would put to my Camaro are new tires and that's it, I'm perfectly okay with 650hp

Starfire Storm that’s amazing. Personally I’m currently not able to own a car but assuming I had an R34, I’d mod it to make it more of what it is, lowered with better springs and engine power buffed to at least 500 is what the car deserves, a bigger wing too probably.
@Starfire_Storm7 жыл бұрын
That's perfectly fine, I think it would look kinda cool, probably another "mod" that I would put to my Camaro is the 1LE Package, it would have to be aftermarket though, since I doubt Chevy installs it to standard ZL1's

I’m with you. Mods come in and out of trend. Stock is timeless and clean. My exception is rare oem pieces i.e limited edition wheels or just oem improvements i.e seats from a better trim, but I just like the idea of my car being clean and just being a part of a crowd with certain modding potential is enough, I’ll let the others risk their cars. **I’m not opposed to proper suspension tuning either as it won’t impact on reliability or health of your car while making a world of difference. This is probably less relevant if you plan to drive your car in a straight line.
@Ryan-ue9ve6 жыл бұрын
Starfire Storm when you have a fast car that looks fine stock then there's no reason, in my opinion, to modify it. Some examples are mustang gts and camaros with performance pack.

Leaked oil, water pump, timing belt, and transmission issues which totaled up to 3k repairs after paying 4.5k for the car (sadlyfe). Good thing i didnt purchase any mods yet tho. I recommend repairing your car first, changing weared down rotors, old wheel spacers, change fluids, get a full diagnostic with your car first, etc. Will save you in the long run

Check out the Magnuson-Moss Act. The condensed version is: If a defect is caused by an aftermarket part, the repair for the defect may not be covered under warranty. The burden of proof is on the dealer to prove that the aftermarket part led to the failure. For example, if you burn a hole in a piston, and the only mod you have is a CAI, the burden of proof is on the dealer to prove that the CAI caused the piston failure. If they can prove it, the repair won't be covered under warranty. By the same token, if you have a power window failure, a shock absorber failure, or a clutch failure, they would have to cover those under warranty since installing a CAI has no bearing on those components. And, contrary to urban myth, a dealer cannot cancel your warranty. The warranty is provided by Ford motor company, not the dealer. Under extreme circumstances, the factory may instruct the dealer that it's voiding the powertrain warranty, but they cannot void the entire vehicle warranty because of installation of an aftermarket part. In reality, a lot depends on your dealer, the rapport you have with them, and how mod-friendly they are. But even then, they can only go so far. They have rules and policies to abide by as well. So you make your mods and you take your chances, or wait until the warranty runs out.

0:37 , In some places is better to mod the car first day (especially if you import it) in my country the rules are extremely strict, and in the future, I wish to buy a Subaru BRZ, and mod it with some taillights and a wind (the original taillights looks awful) and I need to import it from USA into Europe, so I can import it in France for example, make the mods there (or another country with more lose roles than mine) register it there and pass the inspections (I will need to do those inspections even if I don't mod it) then import it in my country and register it again so it will be moved legally. Also, the insurances want you to pay extra for your mods and also keep the recipe u got from them and install them in a service, this is what someone from insurance told me once. In this way, the insurance will gladly pay for the moded parts too if they didn't cause the accident and were tested properly before at the service.

Maybe not $1k, but if you want to buy a cheaper car instead to mod it, than that's great! Project cars are fun, but keep in mind there is a lot of patience required. The $10K good car will roll right off the lot, no problems, but also no personality :P Modding is more than just a money investment, so If you have time on your hands, than go for it. What if you want to have a barn find and it’s an old mustang with components already built into it but it just needs a few more parts?

I owned a car that did not need a exhaust pipe but the old owner put one on for the look.

"Don't mod right away." Tell that to Carroll Shelby..... But then again, I feel you. I almost purchased a tuner last week, but then my ac blend box went out. :/

I bought new rims for my '87 GMC pickup and didn't check my notes before purchasing them. The backspacing was off and I had already had the tires put on so I had to buy spacers for it. Oh well.

The 86 doesn't need much, a catback if you want more exhaust sound, and either a subwoofer or just a full sound system for your music, and finally if you aren't going to drift it around like a hooligan then maybe change the tires so something with a bit more grip. Styling is good otherwise.

I want a 57 chevy in sky blue, sealed and epoxy clear coat wooden bed, and then modernize the engine, transmission, suspension, brakes, etc. Either using a coyote, LS, or something like crate 350.

I always start with safety mods like a roll cage for example

I basically found out the hard way how modding can go wrong for some of these. 1. Lost my warranty when the super-charger I added on my car ended up dropping a bolt into the engine. 2. You don't get your money back on mods and usually people buying don't care, especially car dealers. 3. For California I found out some of the mods I thought were CA safe and legal for smog weren't.

I think you should make videos about the people (usually teens) that compare family sedans to base model sports car (mustang-Clamato-etc) am not by any means a big enthusiast that knows how everything works in a car and how to mod but I just enjoy watching videos about cars with my basic knowledge and learning more about them and find other hobby’s like computers tech and video games as my main hobbies :) , but some times I see people that really annoy me going like “I can get a bass model mustang that makes 300HP for the price of a Camry-corolla” And that really annoys me because even if I told him why a camry would be a better option for lots of people they will just deny it and say the same thing , one time I told someone that he is just comparing planes and legs and there are benefits to each of them and he just called me stupid with even saying a damn thing, That was my opinion in them what do you guys think about them ? And also thank you (insert name of the owners of the channels that I can’t find any where) for those amazing videos :)

You should make a vid about car parts and brands for those who are new to the car world !😁
@silentnight2292 Жыл бұрын
Or take your modded car and sell it at a place like Barrett Jackson or sell it individually. PS you should always have two daily drivers before selling one individually you get more money that way you find people into cars to sell it to.

@willbryant81867 жыл бұрын
Most manufacturers will not void your warranty unless the mod you did is the cause of the problem, so let's say you put coilovers on and then you're engine blows, as long as you didn't mod the engine at all, the manufacturer will still replace the engine even though the car has coilovers
