@@MonsieurGuy build quality overall is very good. the gaps on exterior are fantastic. there is no problem with cheap plastics or other things hater pointed out in videos before. i am a car guy and extremely picky when it comes to this stuff. i let a shop install TPU foil all over the outside to protect the very clean paintjob. interior is excellent, the nappa leather and stitching is high quality and notning is rattleling. the sound system is just epic! first car in my life i felt like i dont need add speaker/sub or amplifier myself which i always did on all my cars before. proper dolby atmos. display is super resonsive and fast. you can feel the nvidia chip inside the car. company leader i know bought the same car with 20" wheels and the michelin pilot sports which i have driven alot before i got mine. ride quality is great. grip is far beyond anything i had before. range with these super sticky tires is a bit lower which is why i choosen 19" wheels and michelin e-primacy on mine combined with the aero rims. grip is still amazing but i get better range on them, the ride quality is better and more soft while noise on highway is lower too. the 20" still feels quiet but they are a bit harder when you drive on bumpy streets. in the rainy season we get deep potholes here sometimes and thats one of the reasons i choose 19" too. i bend several rims on my BYD which was 22" that time. i swapped to 20" after some years and they dont bend anymore when you accidently hit one of these holes. yeah overall i am happy with 19" rims and tires so far. i can drive 160km/h and have a conversation in a very calm tone because its so silent inside. almost unreal feeling. the active noise canceling does the rest to keep things quiet. i thought this would be much worse before. the adaptive suspension does stiffen up the car when you drive in sport mode. i made my own mode with suspension at the lowest level and most soft, rear spoiler tucked in and the softest throttle response. that gives me great range. i cannot say anough good things about this car.

The price of this car is astonishing, and it performs very well in terms of safety features. The car is equipped with three sets of electrical systems, which can ensure that the doors will open automatically after a car accident occurs. These will never go for $40k in a free economy. China offers substantial buyer rebates for EVs, which were paid directly to manufacturers for vehicles produced in China, not for imported cars. They are exemped from 10% sales tax, Chinese government subsidizes EV R&D with dedicated government funds. You could easily get a $30k Tesla if US uses tax payer money to do these as well. But of course the average comsumer can only see a MSRP and screams "why can't we have things like this?"

We have Chinese EVs and ICEs on our side of the border, here in Mexico. We've had them for around 5 years now. The main issue we've seen with those is parts availability and reliability in electronics and some steel parts such as control arms or subframe welds coming off. The main deterrent is the lack of parts availability. Minor fender benders will have you with no ride for months. Everything is on backorder from China. Folks will rather order parts from AliExpress than wait for the insurance to fulfill and repair. Very cool and pretty cars. Just not there yet in terms of logistics and quality.

I would say you shouldn’t take it racing or take it to the track because it may look like a sports car but the brakes would not be much help there. I personally changed the brake pads for literally 100 dollars to much thicker pads and if you want, you can even change the brakes themselves along with the disks for less than 2000 dollars with 6 pistons front and 4 pistons back. I wouldn’t recommend that unless you want to take your car to the track, but just for safety, I recommend changing the brake pads to thicker ones

China is an industrialized country. China is not incapable of producing high-quality products, but some countries have lower incomes and unscrupulous businesses offer extremely low prices to Chinese manufacturers in order to earn higher profits. They even purchase scrap products from China and sell them to their countries, including Africa. In fact, Mercedes Benz, Toyota, Apple phones, including computers, are mostly produced in China. Few people complain about the poor quality of Apple phones. So there are significant differences in the world, including many brands from South Korea, Japan, and the United States, whose production locations are actually in China.😂

ALSO FOR EVERYONE SAYING THIS WOULD BE GREAT FOR THE PRICE is dumb. so is the reviewer. it will never cost that. it will be more around the 60 - 70k mark. How do people just forget to factor in basic things the US requires that raise costs. for one we are trying to get away from china production so Xiaomi would need to build factory here or buy one, not to mention regulate it for the US which means a different version for here than in china (millions in costs), tariffs charges (millions in cost), taxes in the US are wild compared to China (millions in cost), shipping to US for cars (millions in cost), dealer space and employees if they plan on physical place (millions in cost), advertisement (millions in cost), employees in the US (millions in cost). It took tesla 12 years for the model 3 to be under 35k and that's due to regulations, fees, taxes, manufacturing cost, marketing, employees, and success. and that's for an american billionaire. Its a pipe dream and even more so when you take into account Xiaomi is banned from selling in the US lol

I remember when I lived in China, the default was Chinese cars were trash. Plasticky, even worse than the worst Kias. I visited China this past winter to see my family and most of my Didi drivers were driving BYD EVs. I was shocked by how nice they were. A lot of them put a lot of miles/kms on their vehicle. I asked them about the reliability and most of them said they didn't have many issues (at least not more than you'd normally have with a vehicle). Then I asked them about the price. 140,000 yuan. That's around $19k for a quality midsize EV sedan with tons of standard features. He asked me how much EVs costed in the US, and I said you'd be looking at around $40k starting for a Model 3 and he said, "how could anyone afford to drive in America?" Despite Americans making far more than Chinese people on average, corporate executives have made us poor and ran off with the money!

I live in Australia, where Chinese petrol, diesel and electric vehicles are popular. What I have seen in recent years is that the international release of Chinese EVs is very slow since they value reliability and market reputation. All Chinese vehicles that can see outside China are not as fresh as you can see in China, meaning the export versions are more proven ones.

There's sure to be already a discussion about this somewhere else, but Xiaomi should simply offer a model with ceramic brake pads. I don't really think the brake issue is going to rule out success in any sense. If Brembo doesn't have a solution then someone else... obviously Tesla had to realise that when their cars are raced the brakes will overheat and the only sure fix is to fit ceramic brakes.

The stories about this car emerging out of China leave alot to be desired, but Im trying to be cognisant of the fact its a phone company venturing into the EV space. If they can fix the reliability issues it can do well but for the price point you cant have brakes wearing off when pushed hard consistently or bits coming off. They're well in the game when it comes to software.

If you take an unmodified Tesla to a track, its brakes will wear out faster. Remember this is a family car. You should at least modify the brakes to be more suitable for track conditions before going off to the track. Home brakes cannot withstand the high temperatures of track conditions.
