This is an authentic contralto voice. It's the lowest alto range & the highest tenors. Some people even consider a women's deep octaves a type of falsetto. Not sure I'd go that far, but here she pretty much sings from the bottom to the top of the contralto vocal spectrum. She also sings with a dropped soft palate, which accounts for the slightly nasal tone. Stevie Nicks has a similar construct to her singing, but Miley has more range & power.

Yes, but also less talented than the dozens of female artists that get overlooked in favor of her because name recognition and money. People are lazy, the industry is lazy. I listened to tracks recorded on tapes, which were sold in very underground stores here in São Paulo, there are many of these strongholds until today. my parents frequented these places and had access to all kinds of material. they were pretty eclectic but didn't like Metallica! I, unlike them, loved and reacted differently every time I listened to Metallica, I screamed, grunted, tried to imitate the sound, it was just like that with Metallica. my mother (now deceased) said I seemed to know what band it was. my first full-length album was MASTER OF PUPPETS. that LP (huge for a child) that I carried with all the delicacy not to scratch, along with a box of tapes, is one of the first memories of my life. I like other bands now, of course, but not as much as Metallica. too bad my son (14 years old) doesn't like it... oh yes, thanks for the "kiddo"! haha
