Miley was doing a tribute to Tina Turner in the way she was costumed and dancing. In a much earlier (year wise) grammy performance Taylor Swift performed her song Mean where she made a nod to being at the grammies also. I believe what you were hearing at the end was from Rolling In The River by Tina Turner.

Miley in all her performances since her album Rock, she does everything with a wired microphone. She says that it makes her feel more real, and that she really sings live. She also says that she doesn't like a show with dancers and a lot of spectacle, she wants to do it just with her attitude and her voice. For example, for big events like the Grammys, she wants to be different from the rest. How does she do it? By doing the opposite of what Taylor, Sabrina, etc. do, a circus. Miley just makes sure that the center of attention is only on her and her security. What does Miley invest in as such in her performance? She always wears expensive designer jewelry and clothes, unique vintage pieces that you won't see on anyone else, fashion knowledge that not everyone has, and well, her talent in her blood. I love her.
