@lerbronk a train that is supposed to do a space bending travel "breaks" and everyone in is trapped in it for 10,000 years, there they find out they cannot die but still feel pain of every injury done. After a couple of millenia of sensory deprivation pain becomes the only relief they can feel Yara Yara. Focus is on a couple on the train which due to a certain someone, they become very close, to the point of being an aberration of flesh. I'm sorry I broke the rule guys

e is Euler's constant, an irrational number like pi that has infinite decimals. While pi is a vital number in circles, e is vital in logarithms, with the equation e^x being identical to it's slope at any given point. I don't really know if there's any symbolism in that, but the reason that they're both so significant is that they appear everywhere in nature and Science for no discernible reason.

From a place of love is bring "We stick together" to a whole new level what a honest song.

That phrase that you highlighted from And Then is Heard No More is one that stuck with me since I heard the lyrics, and it defines the clashing interpretation that the fanbase has about the character whose this song is for. For context, he's someone who was just a rookie, lost his mentors and dear colleagues in a situation where the odds were overwhelmingly against them, and he barely was able to get away with his life. He wouldn't have made a difference if he had just chosen to say and die together with them, but in the song his regrets about said decision are echoing through his heart. Later on he finds the strength to face the fear and put up a good fight, but before he was about to go in a blaze of glory, he once again gets thrown out of the conflict, this time against his will. Then, he keeps stumbling down, doubting himself, and his previously found inspiration turns against him to fully destroy his ego. That's why people are so divided against him. Some just call him a simple coward, running away at every opportunity, whether he wants to or not; while others see him as a tragic hero, one that if things had gone different for him, he could have overcome his trials, or at least gone down as a hero should.

Definitely a great analysis of Philip and I agree with pretty much all that you said. (if anyone reading this reply is currently playing or planning on playing Library of Ruina avoid reading the following) Imo i think the reason why the coward side is the more prominent side taken is because we have seen what he could’ve become through Xiao’s story (ironic since they’re in the same invitation route) as they both lose their colleagues and even loved ones yet it’s ultimately not the choice that labels theme a coward, it’s their actions and commitment in their choice. Philip ultimately chooses to run away but continues to turn away from the reality of his actions and distorts thinking his colleagues would recognise him as a coward (even though they told him to survive and essentially take pride in running away), whereas Xiao chooses to stay and we can see that she could’ve distorted; but she realises that she shouldn’t be ashamed of her actions since it was her decision and will commit to her actions fully hence obtaining an ego. This comparison in their wills is made further obvious with the nature of their distortion and ego. Philip’s distortion represents cinders and ashes, the leftovers of a burning flame. This sort of mocks his cowardly actions as it’s representing his ideologies as burnt out and lacking in passion and confidence. Alternatively, Xiao’s ego represents a burning sunset, constantly burning bright for everyone to see, reflecting her courage and determination that she doesn’t care who sees her even if she’s going to her grave. Sorry for the impromptu analysis/rant/essay but it’s cool to see the duality of Xiao and Philip, who lived a similar experience yet walked different paths. The rising hero turned tragic coward and the rising flame turned to a shining star.

@@codeherbaon2452 actually, Philip is candle wax above all else. It can only burn itself out (representing his ideals that are inherently incompatible with humans as a whole, let alone the City), but a candle can bring light and warmth in the process. This also reflects in how he distorts: instead of accepting that people can be flawed including him and there's nothing wrong with that (the illusions of his mentors are merely an aspect of his own self-deprecation, he's more upset about thinking so low of them than the idea of them looking down at him), he choses to give up, snuffing out his passion to spare himself the pain that comes with it. The Distortion is noteably devoid of any flames aside from some attacks and even then, it doesn't come close to how much Burn he can stack in other forms. And yet, when you fight him as part of the Ensemble, even though he has additionally been lobotomized after losing a huge chunk of his being earlier, that passion comes back to him. The flame is rekindled and his body is set aflame. This makes him more vulnerable, but at the same time, he's stronger. His empowered form doubles down on it and is visibly burning away, but he's burning the brightest he ever has.

@@anothenblue2630 I love PM analysis and thanks for using the candle wax point (I used ash and cinders for the burnt out aspect completely forgetting about candle wax that’s on me). its still awesome to be able to deeply analyse ruina content and find interpretations and comparisons between characters and themes. I know there is also room to discuss how their environments and people both philip and xiao were surrounded by (accidentally and intentionally, looking at hokma balls clown here) played in their respective stories. I wish I could use these PM brainrot powers in my own academic essays (T-T)

@@codeherbaon2452 regarding circumstances, that's the one thing people always forget about regarding Philip and Xiao. If it weren't for Miris, Xiao would have distorted. She was already on her way there before Carmen decides to have a chat. Meanwhile, Philip was going to die if he didn't get teleported, but he held himself together way better before getting incomplete EGO until he got clowned. Funny how that works.

No spoilers for Love Town, but the Key Ingredient version Mili put out for her anniversary can be a little more literal in its horror even if it doesn't prepare you for what it's like to hear it in-game. In general, thematically, these themes represent acts of love twisted with unfortunate results, surrendering to nihilism, wanting to ignore everything that happens, and finally accepting that if you are going to die, you will do so fighting until the very end.

Funnily enough, if you are planning to make a second video on Mili, you have (as far as I know) four more songs that were used in Project Moon's games: "String Theocracy" and "Gone Angels" from Library of Ruina, and "In Hell We Live, Lament" and "Between Two Worlds" from Limbus Company. Small note: "String Theocracy" and "In Hell We Live, Lament" are intro songs for their respective games, and the other two (and the ones that you already heard) are boss themes. Edit: Yeah, Iron Lotus is meant to have a chinese vibe, because it belongs to a character related to that tradition (Xiao, director of a group specialized in chinese martial arts) So, The number in Children of the City is Euler (e) The lyrics before that say, "Don't go home until you finish reading the value of e" Euler is an irrational number, thus endless. I saw in the description you asking why the songs were so depressing and its because of the world the games are set in and the songs are based off of. I wont spoil anything but i will say experiencing the songs without context and then going back with context literally changes everything, from the words being said to even why your hearing certain instruments wont spoil anything for anyone interested in the games but from a fan of the series its an absolute recommend all 3 games in the series are honestly in my top 10 games ive every played. Fun fact: the last song "Fly, My Wings", is based upon the korean story "Wings" written by the korean national poet Yi Sang. The song is based on the final paragraph of the short story, where the terminally depressed narrator is standing on the 5th floor of a building looking down on the street below. The story ends with him urging himself to fly... it cuts out to that part so we the readers are in suspense but yeah... This is also why the backup vocals of the song keep repeating "goodbye" during the climax. And the suddenly upbeat music is really close to the descriptions of suicidally depressed people feeling happy once they decide to do it, because they feel that their burdens and struggles are finally going to end.

Heathcliff is based on Heathcliff from Wuthering Heights (obviously) Novel by Emily Bronte. And yes the sinners are also similar to the characters or the person they are based off. Yi sang is based on Yi sang, a Korean Poet. Familiar Novels Yi sang made are: "The Wings" and "Crow's eye view". So similar right? No way that is a coincidence lol.

The little nudge to overcome this looming, crushing darkness, the little, shaky step that makes you step out of the white square... It was enough for me to get up and start walking, after nearly a decade of passively watching world go by. The air burns in lungs breathing in for the first time. The skin, fresh, after dropping the hardened carapace, is so vulnerable. Knowing, that the wings will struggle, and maybe won't even take you anywhere - but the possibility is what makes you flap them regardless. And even if you won't reach any proper place, your feet are finally moving.

My passiveness i blamed on - what i thought to be - inability to reach out of the hopeless square i was prisoner to. My own struggle to change my own situation, firmly believing i simply did not have "means" to find happiness - so i settled, bitter, for dormancy. I'm not saying i was healed, mental issues don't go away with a touch of magical wand or one life-changing moment. But with this little nudge of inspiration, of understanding, self reflection, i quite literally got up and walked out - humming this melody all the way. You don't need wings, right? You can just keep walking forward.

you'd be surprised at how genuinely pure "fly, my wings" is. the premise of limbus company is that you are locating the "golden boughs," golden branch-like structures capable of bringing forth great power from the might of one's will. thing is, those boughs are conveniently located and placed within areas that have deep ties to your employees. so, the entire journey is fixing up the loose ends of everyone's past to have them recover from them, for better or worse. so, "fly, my wings," is actually a really positive song dedicated to one of the characters!

Children of the City is an absolutely tragic song. (Spoilers for Ruina below) It's the theme of a young man who has been forced to follow seemingly random orders his whole life, forced to take valuable things from other people, forced to kill his own friends... and then, even his ultimate act of rebellion against the entity creating the orders turned out to play right into its design in the end (hence "Snippy scissors cut down the strings, I set myself free/Only to figure out everything I chose was by proxy" ). This is the theme of a mentally broken man who truly believes that he has no free will (hence "prewritten persona"). One of many tragic storylines in Ruina, but one that really stuck with me. I still tear up when listening to this theme sometimes.

When i first heard mili in library of ruina, i wasn't initially a fan. However over the years ive grown to love all of their songs. The ability to literally encapsulate rhe vibe of everything. The instrumentals always hitting the perfect notes and how lovingly the lyrics have been composed to perfectly synergise. The song for the Children of the City is basically about the arbitrary, nonsensical orders tht ppl have to carry out as part of their roles; Which can be metaphors for all the mundane and meaningless jobs and routines adults are forced to take to survive in the urban/modern world. And when people try to assert their freedom and individuality in this world, they get quickly beaten down and absorbed into the system. The song in general has tht neon, late-night-city sort of atmosphere to it, and it can easily b seen as the backdrop for the singer stumbling through the dirty streets going through despair over their place in life. Oh, and the whole "don't go home until you finish reading the value of e" thing with the numbers at the end? The number e is an irrational number, which goes on forever, so the "joke" is tht the singer can never go back home. They can't go back "home" to innocence and happier days.

The asian inspiration in iron lotus is due to the singer being chinese-canadian. Also there isn't a real producer for the songs, they're all composed by Yamato Kasai (another member of the mili band)

Little nerd explanation of how the lyrics of the songs fit into the game: SPOILERS FOR LIBRARY AND LIMBUS I‘m gonna explain the songs in order from start to finish of the video. From a place of love: Plays during the Love Town boss fight. The lyrics reference Tom and Marry, which get stuck on a train with a bunch of other passengers (a Warp train, which kinda just skips time and arrives at any destination within seconds). Time stands still in the train and everyone loses their minds over thousands of years in it, and eventually two passengers (who are secretly evil) turn the whole train and the passengers into fleshy monsters, in the process turning Marry and Tom into an amalgamation called „Tomerry“ who you then fight in the Library, which is what the song references. Children of the City: The theme music for the Yan boss fight. Yan was a Messanger for the Index (the Index is basically an organization of bodyguards who protect people for carrying out „Prescripts“ which can be anything like „Clap 5 times“ to „Pull out all your hair, put it in a bowl with milk, and feed it to the next person you see wearing a red sweatshirt“. Yan slowly began to realize how messed up this was, and set out to find the source of the prescripts, which he discovered were made in a large room under the city, and the prescripts themselves were actually MADE by the city, like a beating heart. He then discovers how insignificant he actually is to the will of the city and distorts (he turns into a monster) which you then fight. And then is heard no more: This is the song for the Crying Children boss fight. A man named Phillip gets word of the library along with his office of fixers (basically bounty hunters) and they all decide to go into the Library. Phillip, upon realizing what mistake they made, ran away and left the others to un-alive. Them he searched for the help of ANOTHER office and did the exact same thing. Then he came to the Library alone, and manifested his ego upon gaining this courage (ego is basically like distortion but you actually stay human and have control over it, usually this means obtaining a set of armor and a weapon). After then defeating him AGAIN, he gets LITERALLY teleported away one last time, and gets found by a man named Oscar (an evil clown) takes him in, and pushes him to distortion, turning him into the „Crying Children“ which you then fight. Iron Lotus (my beloved): This song plays during the Xiao bos fight, who gets to the Library with her association, the Liu Association, which includes both some of her best friend and her husband. Oh boy. So, in short, everyone gets un-alived. Everyone but Xiao, who her husband dragged away to protect her, so he also lived for like 1 more fight but whatever. After that, Xiao managed to pull through the urge to distort, and instead manifests her ego in the most EPIC way I‘ve ever seen, and the true boss fight begins, and unlike Phillip, she never distorts all the way until the end. Man I love Xiao. And finally, Fly, My Wings: This is all about Yi Sang. It plays during the second Dongrang boss fight, once again an ego fight, and is purely meant to represent Yi Sang finally being able to open his wings after all that happened in the past with his old friends (which included Dongrang) slowly fading after some drama happened and everyone was arrested and so on. In chapter 4 he basically comes to terms with it and realizes that his own genius and strength brought him here, and he LITERALLY sprouts wings of shattered memories at the end of the fight. Limbus Company is a free game by the way, I HIGHLY recommend it. Anyways, that took very long to type lol, hope this clears it up for the people who care.
