Ranveer's and Milinda's comments on the shared culture of Indians and Sri Lankans is very true. In 2018, I went for a Master degree in the United States. In the new semester, a group of Nepali students invited me to a Potluck. In this small gathering, there was one other student, 3 years younger to me, from New Delhi. We both clicked instantly and every week he used to take me to Wisconsin to eat Indian food. We were on the Minnesota and Wisconsin border, and we go to this restaurent often. The funny thing is the restaurent, although it is Indian, was run by a fellow Sri Lankan. Both of us were each other's go to person. Although we are from thousands of miles apart, we never felt we are from different countries. He introduced me to lot of North Indian content, and I introduced him to both South Indian and Sri Lankan content.

This podcast has given me more information than 4 months in the country this year, speaking to locals and watching local media. Until now it's felt impossible to get a high-view perspective which is free from feverish political rhetoric. I commend you on the content plus the interviewing style, asking potentially tricky and emotive questions in a non-threatening way and explorative way. We could learn a lot from this here in London! Again, brilliant stuff! You've got another subscriber!

Indian politicians especially the opposition should learn something from Milind ji. He is putting forth Sri Lanka first perspective rather than blaming anyone for the issues. There are three distinct Thamils in Sri Lanka. 1. Thamils who immigrated from India during the British rule and are currently struggling to make ends meet despite working nonstop to acquire money 2. Thamils who support the LTTE and think they don't originate in India and want their own state 3. Thamils who reject the LTTE and oppose the creation of a separate state Which one would you want to hear?

I have visited Sri Lanka. People are absolutely lovely, friendly. Just seeing us walking along the road they would come across street to talk to us. We couldn't communicate directly, but our chauffer-guide was very helpful. He introduced us around. This was a novelty since we have found that people get attracted to white skinned people. But in Sri Lanka we were given better treatment than the whites by the locals. The locals went out of the way to help us out.

as a non political and a neutral patriotic sri Lankan citizen first i must say that as Sri Lankans we are always welcome and support our dear indian friends and brother's and sisters. both countries maintaining very good bilateral relationships and I hope and wish this ancient relationship between two nations will strengthen further more no question about it but with all the due respect to the hon Mr miilindha moragoda and his personal views and opinions as well as his freedom of speech and expression my personal view is that he is definitely an western agent as well as specially an Indian intelligence service's trained and backed sri Lankan citizen and some of his personal opinions and views are not really helpful for sri Lanka's territorial integrity and sovereignty and her national security ( both defence and economic and financial perspective etc etc ) and as a neutral country we must also maintain our good relationships with other Sri Lanka friendly countries like China Russia and others too that's why we can't take any side's we must have very balence relationships with those countries as well and I must say that the vast majority of Sri Lankans are totally against to the fully implementation of the Indian backed 13 th amendment of the country's constitution with regarding about the devolution of powers to the northern and eastern part's or provinces of our country and also to the other provinces as well co's it will definitely turn our beloved country to a federal state and it will bring further problems and instability to our country as well as to the entire south Asian continent as well

I am a Sri Lankan watching this show ! I entirely support the views Amb. MIilinda Moragoda has expressed about the feelings of especially the majority Sinhala Buddhist community towards India ! Indians are our cousins and India is the cultural fount of our civilization. We have nothing but love and friendship towards India. It because of that we were hurt, and deeply wounded by the policies of the Indira Gandhi govt to foment separatist Tamil Terrorism in Sri Lanka. It is because of that that we Sri Lankans feel the need for support from China, for protection against misguided Indian policies ! It will take decades of mutually supportive interaction to restore the historical trust that we had with India. But that trust will be restored, however long it takes, because we are relatives and we cannot forget our ancient longstanding heritage ! India's recent assistance during the post-Covid financial crisis, when no one else would help, has gone a long way towards mending the relationship that the Indira Gandhi govt destroyed ! 🙏 ! 🇱🇰 ! ❤ !

The main problem leading to the crisis is that 80% of government spending is allocated to paying government job salaries. Politicians promise these government jobs to gain votes, but in the long term, this practice has negatively impacted our economy.

Also to return to power they were offering a lot of freebies at every election. The public do not need freebies. They need economic empowerment which the Sri Lankan politicians did not provide because they were so corrupt like most Indian opposition parties.

Oh Milinda as a diplomat is required to downplay the rampant corruption of the Rajapakses and the major contribution of Gothabhaya in the recent economic crisis in Sri Lanka. He has to be politically correct. The spontaneous large scale peaceful protests of a people feeling the pinch is not to be brushed aside. Of course vested elements hijacked these peaceful protests and turned it violent. Hopefully & thankfully situation is getting better in SL.

As a Sri Lankan living in USA, I don’t agree everything that Mr. Milinda Moragoda was said, however the overall idea he brought in to discussion was correct. The problem with the rajapaksha family is that they indeed stopped the war but at the cost of a huge tamil genocide. War was not kept between the soldiers and the tigers. It included innocent civilians that were sacrificed.
@usernameis9157 Жыл бұрын
It is very ironical and problematic that Tamils are always brainwashed and trained by their politicians to blame Rajapaksas instead of talking about what J. R. Jayawardene did to Tamils. It is like blaming Modi's BJP for anti-Sikh riots in 1984 that happened under Gandhi's Congress

Why are tamils hell bent on believing white people.. what a slave mindset. Today everyone can move freely anywhere in SL and live anywhere cos the terrorists are no more. India is the only country that has broken Sri Lanka's trust. Friendship is based on trust. India has violated that trust several times since 1980. As a majority Buddhist country, Sri Lanka does not create conflicts and is always tolerant. Once trust is broken, trust can never be rebuilt. The government of Sri Lanka is the people of the country. Their decision will be the final decision. Sri Lanka was never a country that deliberately harmed India. Sri Lankans have no conflict with Indians. But Sri Lankans never trust India's government.
