This is basically the start of Maiden's shift to more prog-like song composition that continues to this day. Once you struggle through the 90's albums and then get into the 2000's with Brave New World, you're likely to have the same kind of album reactions, meaning they'll take a little while to grow on you. A Matter of Life and Death especially. Also, do yourself a big favor and pull the lyrics out like you did with Longest Day. It will most definitely accentuate the first-time listening experience.

We told you lol. Once you get use to the synth sound and the fact it's a concept album.. it's a masterpiece. Now you HAVE to react to the live tour for this album called "Maiden England 88" before the next studio album. It will be a good refresher from all the previous albums too, plus you get to hear this album live :).

I agree with many of the commenters that this album grows on you after several listens. But the main difference between this album and this previous 6 is that you loved them instantaneously, with no need for them to grow on you.

I love this song! I think it’s the dark horse on the album! Black sheep! The unsung hero! Hidden gem! It reminds me of Still Life in that regards. Perhaps a bit awkward at first listen. Lots of parts to digest in a relatively short time. Prog! Grows on ya! Next two kick ass, Herm!

The next album after this “No prayer for the dying”Janick gers was replaced with Adrian smith on guitar, Most maiden fans really don’t like the album and it really doesn’t get talked about enough, I didn’t even know about this album for a while cause I couldn’t find a name or anything about it. But honestly it’s really not bad at all it’s got some real good bangers you should still react to it.

The album that got me into Maiden. It was their newest album at the time, and I might have got Powerslave just before this. Those two are perfect albums to me. Piece Of Mind, Somewhere In Time and to a degree The Number Of The Beast are almost as good. I think TNOTB has a few tracks that are slightly not up to par with the rest of the material. I think Maiden have never been close to releasing a thoroughly stunning album like Seventh Son since its’ release. Brave New World and The Final Frontier are very good, but c’mon… Seventh Son is so meticulously crafted on every level. And Bruce’s singing were never better than here (neither before or since). Oh, and this is how I would rank the tracks off Seventh Son: 1) Only The Good Die Young [10/10] 2) Moonchild [10/10] 3) Seventh Son… [9.5/10] 4) The Evil That Men Do [9.5/10] 5) Infinite Dreams [9/10] 6) The Clairvoyant [8.5/10] 7) The Prophecy [8.5/10] 8) Can I Play With Madness [8.5/10]

Like I said in another comment I truly believe Seventh Son album is best when you listen straight through like Dark Side of the Moon. The reason this album is my favorite is because of the lyrics and concept in addition to the instrumentals and just how it sounds. A lot of the synth tones are reflection of the lyrics since it is about life/death/reincarnation and good v evil. It's mystical - the sound reflects this to me. I really think the next song 'The Clairvoyant' will be your favorite. And Blaze era has awesome songs- not a fan of the voice but definitely check out Bruce's versions of some of the songs live. Such as Clansman, Sign of the Cross etc! Glad to see you liked this song! It's underrated!

As Maiden's songs become more complicated, in a good way, they take a little more effort and patience. But then they also become more enjoyable and long-lasting. The earlier simpler songs come off as satisfying right away, but lose their luster after a bit. In the end, it's all good, just different styles and different types of enjoyment. Fits the mood you're in.

Blaze era songs aren't the greatest, my main gripe with most of them is that they are overly repetitive but there are some gems to be found. Such as: Sign of the cross The clansman When two worlds collide Lightning strikes twice To name a few... When you do get around to the clansman and sign of the cross, could you please do the studio version and then the rock in rio 2001 versions in the same videos? I really think you'd enjoy the contrast.

This is a filler as it were along with "Only the Good Die Young"but oh my god even the fillers are killers on this album, Love the acoustic guitar at the end, my no1 Iron Maiden album🤘🤘🤘 p.s personally the Blaze Baily, era isn't the best but The X Factor tacken on its own for what it is really is a very strong album and I think it's a great Maiden album and I really like it alot and it's wrong to try and compare it to any album that came before because that was a whole different period of Iron Maiden. So for those that like to bitch about the Blaze Baily era just shut up ok.

This is definitely NOT a filler, and neither is 'Only the Good Die Young'. There are no fillers on this concept album. This is a story told in epic metal fashion!

I never could stand this song. I like the album over all. But, there are certain parts of the song that cut through me like nails on a chalkboard. Exhibit A is the second that Bruce starts singing at the beginning of the song. The whole Melody and timing of the verses sound awful to me. Absolutely dreadful. It's really choppy and doesn't seem to make any sense. I can't stand listening to it. The only beautiful parts of the song are the acoustic outtro at the end and part of the guitar solo. The rest of it is utter crap. Goofy and awkward meter, terrible chord choices, terrible transitions between parts, garbage song.
