Thank you so much for reacting to this. I was in high school here in North Carolina when this song first came out in 1979. I remember it well. My girlfriend and I at the time loved attending concerts. It was one of the things we loved doing together. My wife loved concerts as well during that time. There were a huge number of wonderful groups at the time and concerts were not very expensive to attend. Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Boston, Journey, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Triumph, 38 Special, Foreigner, and many others. I can not describe to you what a wonderful time it was to be young then. We were happier, relationships were closer, life was more carefree, and the music was spectacular. My heart just aches that young people will not get to experience life as we did as teenagers in the 70’s/80’s. Again, thank you so much for posting this video. It was a wonderful treat.

I was lucky enough to see this concert twice. With as great as it is to be able to watch and hear it again, it's nothing compared to being there! I've been to many concerts from these years, other PF as well, and nothing compared to the sound in this concert. We all came out of it silent, mouths open, and WTF did we just experience face! Actually felt the music for days! Glad to see you younger generation appreciate the insane amount of talent on that stage and in their music!

I dont believe that there is a band today that can put on a triple AAA live production concert of this caliber. A quick glance at the history in the top charts and shelf life of their music is a testament to their brilliance and musical capabilies. Nice reaction!

Eversince i got the album "Wish You Were Here" as a present in 1975 (when i was 12 years old), i´ve been the biggest floyd- (and gilmour-) fan in the world. But let me say this: RAMMSTEIN today (wether you like their music or not) has a stage production of the same caliber, touring with 1350 metric tons of equipment. For example, watch Rammstein "Du Hast : Live Paris Official" or "Engel - Live from Madison Square Garden".
@richardmodglin3900 Жыл бұрын
@@geraldherrmann787 Granted RAMMSTIEN puts on a big display show including pyrotechnics. While their success is great at over 10,000,000 albums sold ....we need to keep in mind that Pink Floyd has sold over 250,000,000 albums. There is a reason for that.
@geraldherrmann787 Жыл бұрын
@@richardmodglin3900 i would never compare them quality-wise, music, lyrics, concepts, influence. for me personally, floyd is the all time greatest band of them all, of course way over rammstein. but the topic was "I dont believe that there is a band today that can put on a triple AAA live production concert of this caliber", and i would argue that rammstein (rum-shtine) is def on a comparable level.

There were not many at this caliber back in the day either. There were a lot more that were a lost closer....but Floyd has always been in a league all their own. I have seen WAY too many really good artists than any one person has a right to .........and for me Floyd is the pinnacle.

I remember watching Rick Wakeman on TV many years ago. He was being praised for the speed he could play the keyboard. His reply was "Anyone can play fast, that's just a matter of practice. It's playing slowly that takes talent". I think there's a lot of truth in that.

I was at their Pulse concert tour in Vancouver. The one thing you miss watching this video is that you not only hear the fantastic music, you see the marvelous light show (when the ball was lit up and started spinning you felt like you were slowly floating through space; you didn't want to close your eyes), the thing you miss is that you felt the music in your body. When we all left the arena after the show the whole audience slowly walked out of there and no one said a word for about 10 minutes because we were blown away.

This song is the one that hits me the hardest. As someone with chronic neuromuscular pain it just digs into my heart and soul. It was written by Roger Waters from the time he was given a pain shot for abdominal pain which turned out to be hepatitis right before going on stage. It reminded him of as a child how he felt when he became very ill. In a way, just listening to Pink Floyd can be a form of pain relief. What can you say about David Gilmore? It's David Gilmore!

You just can't beat the 60', 70's and 80's Rock Bands, and the amazing amount of high quality music that was available. I saw Pink Floyd in '94' at the Oakland Coliseum. They had designated seating on the football field for about 300 lucky fans. On the folding chair was a 14"×14" Pink Floyd seat cushion. We were 4 or 5 rows back from the stage. GOOSEBUMPS FOR DAYS. I think it was $35.00 a ticket. My brother in law got us ours from his auto dealership. Shedmen rock.

Yep, I was the first 2 times I saw them, did a little acid both times but only enough to feel great, a wariness at times for visuals effects but after experiencing the full effects previously, I knew enough on how to just have a good time. Lord, was it ever, both in 1975 & 1977, the 75 highlights were Dark Side of the Moon in it's entirety and an encore of Echoes, then in 77 I saw Animals and Wish You Were Here expanded and in their entirety, those sets were 50+ minutes each, Gilmour's guitar and Wright's keyboards were as great as any I have ever heard, both performances were mind blowing and you can hear both sets here at You Tube, Gilmour's leads in Animals made you gasp, that guy has the hands of God himself for probing your soul in audio nirvana. Check them out, Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎹🎶

Comfortably Numb is one of the most extraordinary pieces of music ever composed. I always felt that towards the end, it became the funeral march of a lost and tormented soul. All of the anguish and regret of something glimpsed and lost is distilled and channeled into one extended searing cry. This never gets old. Ever. It speaks to something that we all know and cannot be expressed in any other way. Music - real music is a language all its own. Extraordinary musicians like David Gilmour can communicate their inner experiences as few can today. Gilmour’s guitar appears to be connected directly to his soul. Some musicians can manage that for a few moments. For Gilmour, it’s his natural state of being. It is unmistakable and cannot be faked.

Millie, We have a different look for this video. This Pink video is going to be special. I think they have the full set of lights. Maybe some lasers, we'll see! Yes, there they are -- green ones this time! I want a speaker set up on a turn table like the one near David. I used to do a lot of electrical work, so I think these lights are special and would demand a lot of electricity. Several watts!! AND, the mirror ball is back..... It is the king of mirror balls! This man's guitar work is as good as anybody's! Better than most. You won me over a long time ago. You said you are a lover of Pink Floyd. Just another reason for me to like YOU even more. I want you to watch and review ---"The Big Gig in the Sky." That masterpiece is off of the Dark Side of the Moon album. It has some female singers that will melt your brain.
