@@ripvanwinkle2002 Nice. In fact, it was my first "real" rock concert. I just got into metal and wanted to see a triple feature with Anthrax, Overkill and Agent Steel a few month before, but I was not allowed too, and the show was to far away to sneak out of the house and go there by bike or train. My parents only allowed me to go to see Maiden, because my friends dad agreed to drive us to the venue. And he waited in the parking lot the whole show. Pretty cool move from his part in retrospective, as we where only 14 or 15 back than.

WASP was a shock rock band think Alice Cooper etc. their concert album “live in the raw” was recorded on the final night of their 1986-87 world tour. I recommend “I wanna be somebody” and “I’m blind in Texas”. Most of the songs they are known for have an impressive amount of cussing.

Blackie just knew how to deliver a song, man. Notice he's the primarily bass player. Recommendations: "Forever Free" for their almost power ballad. "I Don't Need No Doctor", a great cover song. "Blind In Texas". "Inside the Electric Circus", "I Wanna Be Somebody".

I came of age in 1976 and thought I was locked into 60’s & 70’s rock. It was then that we started hanging out in clubs on the Sunset Strip in Hollywood. Bands I worked for would be playing the same club circuit as Guns N’ Roses, Quiet Riot, and W.A.S.P. just to name a few. At the same time I was gigging on the house crew of a concert hall that catered to New Wave and Punk rock. You sound like an Aussie. We had at least one band from down under and that was a band called Air Supply. They were neither punk or new wave, more like a romantic vibe. Anyway, it’s been nearly fifty years since and I’ve forgotten more than I remember.

I had never listened to WASP but when i was in high school in the 80s I got RIP, Metal Edge and every other metal magazine every single month. One of those magazines printed lyrics to songs in the back. One month this song was printed and, being a lyricist myself, I loved this song and immediately went to listen to it and other WASP songs.

Underrated is the word that keeps surfacing whenever you see WASP mentioned. Some of their lesser known songs are underrated as well. Honestly these guys were big but they should have been bigger. They really knew how to put on a show too - probably better than anyone but it did get a bit too theatrical with whipping naked ladies, assless chaps and meat and stuff LOL. Try to watch one of their concerts from London. They also hired a new basist after this was made called Johnny Rodd, who was pretty hilarious too. Drinking problems, women problems, artistic differences, politicians and community groups trying to ban their music - this band had it all tugging at the seems though. Be sure to check out some of their other stuff and don't be afraid to go off the beaten path a little. I think some of their "most popular" songs were more about poppy tunes and film clips, but they are the least interesting.

I saw WASP in a small hall in 1984 where there only about 300 people tops, and they only had their 1st album released. If that weren't enough, there were a couple other bands that played that night too. Armored Saint on their March of the Saint tour, and Metallica on their Ride the Lightning tour (back when they were good). My favorite part of the show was seeing Blackie. He has always been my favorite musician since I discovered the band.

Hi Millie so glad someone has checked out this amazing band I saw them back in 89 on the Headless Children tour at Hammersmith Odean London still have the ticket programme and t-shirt from that tour, anyway in my opinion Blackie Lawless is a very underrated singer/songwriter and doesn't get the recognition he deserves, also this song is from there second album The Last Command, which happens to be the best album they ever released in my humble opinion, and if you do check anymore from this album I'd suggest either Widowmaker or Cries in the Night, but like I said they have many brilliant songs to choose from.

Yes, this was mid 80s. Their first couple of albums were heavy and very good rock and roll. Their first two song Single with Animal (F**k Like A Beast) and Show No Mercy was just raw and insane! This was the best incarnation of WASP with Blackie Lawless on Bass, Randy Piper on lead Guitar, Chris Holmes on Rhythm Guitar, and Steve Riley (or Tony Richards earlier) on Drums. They were never as good after Blackie moved to Rhythm Guitar, Chris moved to Lead Guitar, and Randy was no longer in the band.

For more W.A.S.P., try "L.O.V.E.machine" - with the promo video, that's suitably risqué by today's standards 🙂Another 80s heavy party rock banger is "Rock you" by Canadian legends Helix. Or, why not some girl power and try "All we are" by Warlock, fronted by the one and only metal queen herself, Doro Pesch? 🤘All pure 80s magic. There are in fact loads of superb 80s sounding, retro if you will, bands of this sort in our own day and age. Among the best are Sweden's Hardcore Superstar and Sister Sin.
