WOW even ! I would never have thought of a rigid foam walled home, my hat is off to you two. I was a Florida certified class B contractor for some 20 years until my hereditary disability made it no longer possible to get'r done. BTW I was age 48-49 when hit with this hereditary major life changing disease. Now at age 73 I am still hanging onto life but expecting to go at any time. But no matter. I like the beam and truss system you are using for support of the main floor and can't wait to see how the rest of the build will progress. You all be careful and stay safe also please keep up with the videos, I look each and every day for a new one and thank you for those you do post. Much appreciated.

Hello from Australia. We are building a Log Home on an ICF basement on 50 acres of bush. We have milled all the floorboards from the hardwood we had to remove from the site. The log work is coming from Canada. We have a Woodland HW 130 Max mill. So many similarities. Keep up the good work !

Just a tip, when I get in poison ivy, I go straight to the creek and find jewel weed, (the Pitcher Plant). It has orange flowers that look like a pitcher and is a natural anti-histamine. Works for poison oak as well Keep in mind they like cool damp places. crush it up and rub on affected area. Peace

Thanks Shawn! The joists are spaced only 16 inches apart so they are very close to begin with, which spreads the weight out a lot, so relying on the shear strength of the bolts and hanger but they are super strong to begin with

Why such thin sub floor? 1.125” thick is usually the minimum. I always think about what it would do when rolling a 700 pound upright piano across it. A small wheel could crush 5/8”. I will I admit I like to overkill where I can. 😊
@TimberMates
@TimberMates Жыл бұрын
The thickest plywood available is 3/4 inch. I honestly have never heard of anyone going that thick. The distance between joist is a big factor. We are adding another layer of 3/4 on top for something interest so stay tuned
@flowerstone
@flowerstone Жыл бұрын
@@TimberMates I will stay tuned. I’m in Oregon. I used post and beam on my house. 4’ on center and used tongue and grooved 2x8 boards for the subfloor. 3/4” plywood on top of that. 1-1/4” tongue and groove plywood for the subfloor on the second floor set on 16” center 2x12. Maybe a bit overkill. 🙂
