Build an in-feed ramp on the back side of the mill to hold several logs. This way, all you would have to do is to remove a chock to allow a log to roll onto the mill.

if you put a platform around the sawmill, and cover it all up and add some lumber storage for your cut lumber, to keep it all dried and out of the elements after being cut, you could install a pully system with a rail to help move the massive logs over the mill. Not only would it make it so u can cut lumber in the shade, you could also do it during rain (not that you would want to) and it would keep the mill out of the elements, make your work environment much more tidy, and give a place for organized storage, and easily/efficiently move lumber. (might be overkill, but I think it would be worth it in the long run)

Honestly I take a bunch of inspiration from both of you guys work ethic been watching for a couple years now. The main thing I can say is I don't want you guys to ever stop! You guys are both beasts. 🤟🏾👍🏾 So I say this with love guys.... Please don't underestimate how a foot injury can really throw a massive spanner in the works. I had to learn this the hard way. I'm only 36 but 4 years ago I suffered one bad foot injury and now I can barely stand and definitely cannot work as hard as I used to. I know it may be uncomfortable in work boots everyday, but Katie please try to imagine what it would be like if you dropped something like them massive boards you hustle around on your foot and broke a toe or worse? What would working as hard as you do be like with just ONE badly injured foot? I talk from experience because I didn't realise how easy it was to mess up my foot for life and the effects it would have till it happened to me. So please maybe consider trying out some actual "Safety Crocs" as you work? 😅👍🏾 Said with love guys. Rooting for you both to keep going building your dreams and keep inspiring all of us dreamers in waiting✌🏾❤

Getting my car from fire stone meaning that we were thinking of buying a tractor for our land where we were building a custom home. “Yeah I used to have a bunch of tractors. I used to build custom homes.” I noticed that his arm was kind of misshapen like it had been in a horrible accident and he couldn’t use it quite right. He’s not living his dream because I guess he wasn’t careful one day. I don’t know it may not it is been his fault. Amazing how quickly your life can change in a moment.

If you want to keep the sawdust cleanup to the minimum, put a hook on the tip of the sawdust outshoot and hang a 5gal bucket from the hook. It will catch most of the sawdust and you only have to dump the bucket every few cuts.

Besides the embers on the deck, the biggest cause of deck burning is embers and junk UNDER the deck catching and spreading fire! Skirt it with solid material or breathable with 1/8in. (bee screen) or smaller holes steel or bronze is best. Same size screening for soffit/ eaves/ roof/ gable and foundation vents. Associated things to prevent fire; remove everything within 3-5ft of the house foundation and decks, stairs and walkways, down to bare dirt or gravel only no exceptions! Nothing gets stored under decks or stairs unless they are fully skirted.

If you turn every other one of the cross braces around on the mill table the square tube to keep the logs from rolling off will be on the far side, looks like 4 bolts per cross brace, then you will be covered on both sides of the mill table. Nice job with the platform.

I’m a relatively new subscriber so forgive if this has been asked/answered already. Really think you’re a great couple, enjoying the heck out of your videos. Not looking in your wallets but seeing how much you use large logs, I wish you’d find the wherewithal and get a new/used grapple attachment for your tractor or at least a forks attachment. You have young backs but take it from an older fan, using that log rolling device is well and good but 25 years from now you’ll wish you did. Otherwise, you guys are great, resourceful, handy and cute, Jeff

Any house built in BC that's either in or near a fire prone area cannot be insured unless the siding has a fire rating to show it won't catch fire quickly. Roofing material especially must be very highly fire resistant. Just in the last 2 weeks 180+ homes and structures burned to the ground not far from Greg and Katie's place.

I haven't watched the full video yet, but I had to stop at where you are replacing the blade to say this. Please, please, please - when you have cut a board, take it off before you cut another!!! Do not let boards stack up on top of each other. I know it adds time to your milling (removing each board separately), but think about what pressure the boards are putting on your blade! The added weight will strain and wear the blade and also put added strain on related equipment - pulleys, belts, etc.. Doing what you're doing will also start to prematurely flatten the teeth and probably give you fuzzy wood. Love your series and can't wait to see each new episode. But still I beg you, think about what this decrepit 74 year old codger has told you . I don't want to interfere , but maybe pass on a helpful tip. Best of wishes and luck. Keep up the great work.

Most people don't know it but if you make a borax water solution and spray it on all your exposed wood really soak it down. Once it is dry you can not burn it makes a fire retardant you can test this with tissue paper mix your solution up spray your tissue down and let it completely dry then try to set the tissue paper on fire it will not ignite
