For as nice as the house was seemed a little plain in the bathrooms and Kitchen. The showers seemed like the cheaper insert shower and the counter top in the one bathroom looked kind of cheap, just didn't look as good as the rest of the house. Nice house and I would live in it just wouldn't know what to do with all the space.

WOWZERS! Beautiful home! That's an Appliance Garage under the cabinet in the kitchen - you could probably use it for storing bread and bagels too. We had an under the counter coffee maker in the early eighties. Unbelievable how immaculate this home is for being 40 years old! Great find!!

This lady in Manchester, UK loves watching your videos Ethan. These beautiful houses, so sad many of them are destined for the tip. I always wonder about the circumstances of them becoming empty and abandoned. Family illness, death, the 80s financial boom, endless money and fat mortgages all coming crashing down. So many human tales in each house. Keep up the great videos.

Ethan, this 80's house does not appear that it was lived in very much.. The kitchen looked brand new, the flooring in the room next to the kitchen with the tile i spect the owner had a breakfast nook(table with bench sittings) which was popular in the 50's & 60's.. the parquet floors exquisite. I really enjoy watching your explorations of these abandon houses

My parents had a similar stove, thiers was a 4 burner. The neat thing about it was the burners where cassettes. Meaning that you could swap them out for a grill or griddle. That house was in the same era. My parents built over the winter of 1981-82. We moved in, in the Spring of 1982. The house was in Michigan. I live in Los Angeles.

@chillysnowgirl8322Ай бұрын
I loved about 98% of this house (& property)! From the cute floral wallpaper (my 2 favourite styles were in the kitchen & the room with the pink carpet), nice shiny wood flooring and a gorgeous staircase, those curved steps at the front of the house.... just allllll of it. 🥰The things i disliked were so minor that i'd move in and improve those later! My dislikes were: 1.The smoked glass in the light fixtures (they give off poor light at night; i'd replace with regular glass). 2.They made the front of the house all nice with the arches & curved steps and then put a huge square box of a garage beside it without even attempting to blend it in with the house, which is sad. 3. That fan that you loved. My parents had that exact same style in their dining rm for years and it's a b**ch to clean!There's 2 screws (one on each side) that twist in and hold each 'flower' on the fan. You have to unscrew them to take them off, wash & dry the flowers, then re-assemble and hope they're in tight enough so they don't fall and break. It was stressful! 😄4. I wish the kitchen had been a teeny bit bigger (it was still fabulous though; the appliances still looked nearly new for their age). Thank you so much for showing us all the little details in this one. For me, i'd say you win explore of the night hands down! Your award, sir!-->🏆😃 Thanks for sharing this gem!! (Don't break my heart by showing this one being torn down 🥺)

I don’t understand how such a beautiful well kept home doesn’t get on the market and sell!!!
@alecs1196Ай бұрын
It DID sell, almost immediately after going on the market! This house is on the outskirts of Toronto Canada, one of the most "in-demand" cities to re-locate on this continent (even MORE so since Trump was re-elected!) The house, despite being well built, is dated, with too few bedrooms, but is on a very large desirable treed lot. It will likely be replaced by two or three modern McMansions. The reason it has sat empty for so long is due to the delays in getting planning permission to sub-divide the property, along with getting the variances required to replace this one storey bungalow with much taller 2 or 3 storey homes.

@@alecs1196i couldnt agree more with your total assessment / comment...right down to trumpty dumpty...im in Phx AZ...being the resistance!! ..Sure sounds tempting in Toronto though! Hagd!❤
@alecs1196Ай бұрын
@@dnorcal1 I'm not that familiar with Phoenix, but I spent two summers in Tucson in the early 80's, and there were a LOT of new white stuccoed "hispanic moderne" versions of this type of house in the ever spreading subdivisions spreading up into the foothills. I was back there for a visit a year ago, to find that a lot of homeowners hacked away and squared off the curved arched porches & entries, and did away with the excessive wrought iron railings and light fixtures (which I kinda liked?) to make their previous faux "hacienda" simply "contemporary"(Never understood why you guys don't build your houses with basements? You'd have a naturally cool rec room like this house has, without the need for A/C!?0)

Those are Old Spanish Arches from old Mexico 😊
@alecs1196Ай бұрын
Actually, these are brick Roman arches from suburban Toronto. After World War II there was a huge influx of Italian immigrants to the city, many of whom were skilled masons, and this exact format of creating a front porch to look like a Tuscan piazza became the hallmark and standard style when these new Canadians built their own homes. Unlike the stuccoed hispanic versions you referenced, Italians always left the brickwork exposed to proudly show off their intricately crafted handiwork.

Surprising and disappointing that this house does not have a NEW BUYER..Was it even ever put up for sale …? I think I heard ( correct me if I’m wrong ) you say in the beginning that it was taken by the government ? ( foreclosed ?) After 35 or so years 🤔 Seems as though it would have been paid off by then especially with it being a 1 owner house kept in EXCELLENT CONDITION ! I would probably change those flooring choices and the areas where the bathtubs were ( looks cheap but also in good condition ) looks like those aftermarket one day materials.

Those intercom systems were cool and this one had lots of options. The close up of the one station shows it had "door talk", which meant that you could "answer" the front door from any room. The doorbell would chime throughout the stations when someone pressed the doorbell button on the front door station. This would have been handy in such a large house. You could call the master station, usually in the kitchen, and the master could call an individual room. You couldnt call room to room. Also, this one has "inside/patio talk" which means any station could answer a call from the rear patio. Other features were being able to play the radio/CD throughout the house and on the patio.
