Some people are getting upset in the comments, so here are some clarifications: - The point of this project was NOT to inspire homeless people or prove that they can easily make $1,000,000. As explained in the video, it was to show that people in general can make a comeback even if they lose everything. Yes, I know the title is a bold statement and there are always exceptions. - Mike outlined all the rules of the project here: mikeblack.co/rules. He was really careful and deliberate to have no unfair advantages. - The point of “but he had skills already and confidence so it’s unfair” is kind of the point of the whole video. In the end it’s all about skills and confidence, but both can be built and that’s the entire point. All the information you need is free online. Hope this clears things up a little!

@@corriejo3655 That is the point though. You start with yourself to get your life on track and then you can ACTUALLY get your life on track. Of course you won't be able to make a million dollars if you live in a crack house, but that isn't something out of your control. You can make the decision to go homeless and then work hard, which will make it easier after that. But it starts with yourself and nothing but your own willpower.

For those whom are homeless, at least in some instances, communication is not a strength. Those who are non-verbal, or those whom are speech impaired, have poor communication and/or social skills and therefore cannot find much of any help from anyone, may never find employment of nearly any kind, but no one expected this experiment to address THAT.

I’m in Michingan and the housing market here over the last 7-8 years is unlike anything I’ve ever seen. Homes that were bought for $130K in 2015 are now being sold for $590k. I’m talking about tiny, disgusting, poorly built 950 square foot shit boxes in quite mediocre neighborhoods. Then you’ve got Better, average sized homes in nicer neighborhoods that were $300K+ 10 years ago selling for $750k+ now. Wild times.

These are very valuable info for anybody who wants to get rich. Unfortunately, most people who will watch this video will not really be able to apply the principles. We may not want to admit, but as Warren Buffett once said, investing is like any other profession-- it requires a certain level of expertise. No surprise that some people are losing a lot of money in the bear market, while others are making hundreds of thousands in profit. I just don't know how they do it. I have about $109k now to put in the market.

Understanding personal finances and investing will most likely lead to greater financial independence. By being knowledgeable about money and investing, individuals can make informed decisions about how to save, spend, and invest their money. Randomly getting a job as a well payed marketing consultant short-term would be impossible for someone with no prior experience or education in the field. 4. Having someone cosign on your super expensive house when you have "bad credit" is really insane. 5. Anyone going around with a whole crew around them filming will be treated differently than your average homeless person in the US.

I was homeless for just shy of 8 years. Let me tell you this is by far one of the most unrealistic perspectives of homelessness I've seen. Firstly, let's talk about the elephant in the room. The production team, that quite LITERALLY made it possible for him to go this far. All the benefits they gave him that most homeless people couldn't even dream of. The "Kid" that drove 30 minutes to let him crash at his place? That pissed me off, when you're homeless you get treated like you're invisible, and people don't even give you the time of day to converse with you, and you're going to tell us a random guy drove 30 minutes to pick up a stranger? Nope. Oh but lets not forget that he has a phone, that's charged..With service.. Yeah definitely all homeless people have that, right? You see, this is the problem with this whole video, when you're homeless, you don't have a safety-net. The guy is a millionaire, acting like he's broke and homeless. There's a difference, the psychological effect of knowing you have a backup plan that will get you back to where you started allows for you to make stretches and leaps. When you're actually homeless it takes a large toll on your Mental Health. Most homeless people have been battling with depression, anxiety and/or several other mental health disorders that can come about from living like that. This guy has his head in the clouds if he thinks that is all what homelessness entails. It's soul-crushing and to see a millionaire "prove" anyone can make 1,000,000 is merely arrogant. All the stars aligned and this guy had multiple helping hands and benefits that most homeless people just do not get.

@markbennet7395
@markbennet7395 2 жыл бұрын
@@joelk3187 I have a phone now and money that took years to achieve - Not because I did not work for them, or I didn't know how. It is extremely difficult to recover from poverty and homelessness, it is mentally exhausting, stressful, and depressing. You fail to realize how unrealistic your perception of homelessness is if you think that starting from nothing, with nothing is easy because he did it quicker? Most people "know what they're doing." With that being said he doesn't have a small advantage, he had enablers. His situation is unrealistic. As I mentioned before in my original post he had so many helping hands. If you think people in reality are that helpful, or even that caring you are sadly mistaken. No one would drive 30 minutes to pick up a homeless-man that they don't know. And the thought of someone co-signing a lease for a homeless-man is straight out insulting.

There's a lot of jobs out there, even if you're homeless and stink and look like shit. I'm on telegram groups where people are begging for cash workers to do simple tasks like help move furniture paying $50 for a couple hours of work, do some post-construction cleaning for $20/hour, and similar. Most of these jobs you don't even need to speak the language, evidenced by the fact that my mom (who doesn't speak english) and several of our immigrant friends were able to do these gigs. Unlike a real homeless person who struggles day to day with with where to sleep, where to eat, trying to keep a decent mental health to not sink into despair, dealing with health issues and knowing you can't afford the medication , even some cheap OTC stuff, petty police harassment due to city ordinances that for all purposes make it a crime to be homeless... I could go on and on and on. If he really wanted a challenge he should've had someone else chose a random day and drop him off at a random location with no resources. Maybe $100, a sleeping bag and a prepaid phone and figure it out from there. At the end of this challenge he knew he was going back to his comfy lifestyle so he has no idea what it's really like.

This is like starting a new character in GTA Online when you're already a 3,000 hours player. That's the only relatable thing I can compare it to. You already know exactly what to do and how to do it. Edit: I think what some people are not understanding in the replies is that experience is more important than knowledge. You can learn about something all you want, but until you experience it for yourself, you will likely run into problems or fail. Knowledge definitely helps a lot, and in the case of this video, this guy had knowledge AND experience. When Cayo Perico came out, I looked at youtube videos and speedruns to fast-track my knowledge, but even as a 2,000 hours player back then I still had to experience it and go through trial and error, failing again and again to get the small technical bits down. It probably didn't take me as long as others to understand it, but I wasn't a master on my first, second, or tenth run. With that said, real life is far more intricate and far more punishing when you fail.

@@CarmenBuenrostro I don't believe there are many more addictions that are quite as harmful, destructive, and most importantly difficult to escape from as drugs/alcohol. It is also one of the main causes for homelessness. Regarding mental illness however, if the one you posses prevents you from completing work, then this video isn't for you, and additionally, the help and path out of homelessness for you required is quite visibly extremely different. A third party's help is almost always needed. It is ignorant however, to say that Mike was trying to give a solution and guide to all homeless people. That he treated this as a game and that his past experiences were to blame for his success. Its obvious he more intended this as a guide not to those facing such complex issues, but more towards those that have only fallen into homelessness due to a chain of unfortunate events that befell them. He is giving tips like flipping free products on craigslist for some profit. Clearly it is not a solution to millions of Americans' homelessness, however, it is a stepping stone that they can use effectively, just like he did, to recover from the situation. Making about the median US salary in only, 10 months, and what would have been more if he had gone all 12 months, after starting with just a phone and clothes is extremely inspiring and helpful to those who are in a similar position. Not only did he show that you can recover from such hopeless situations, inspiring most likely millions of people that watched this and other videos about him, he proved that hard work is really all you need. Many probably doubted themselves and their abilities. Watching this however, shows you can make serious cash with just hard work. And even if he had only his past experiences to thank for his clear success, he shared the steps he took with everyone else. Now anybody recreate his steps that you say were only achievable through his expertise, and do the same. Is it not ignorant to say that this video documenting his experiences, "...doesn't prove anything."? Even if hadn't shown that anyone can do it. If he had proven that only those with his knowledge, and those that have nothing to lose (which doesn't even make sense as what does a homeless individual have to lose?) could make it out, then is it not still ignorant to say that he doesn't prove anything if he had now given everyone a step-by-step tutorial on just how to replicate his actions? These "normal people" without his expertise and experience can now just follow his steps and escape. Your comment is just full of broken logic, hypocrisy, ignorance, and really just pathetic and pitiful. Why do you hate on, and more precisely, disregard and discredit someone's successes? He succeeds in his challenge. He inspires millions. He creates hope and opportunity. And he Yet this is seemingly not enough for you as it has not solved a deeply intricate issue, that is old. It has only done the listed above and more, yet you still dispute his actions. Extremely disrespectful and ignorant behavior towards his journey and those he impacted so greatly. Perhaps you just envy those that work hard and succeed. Perhaps a young millionaire proving that its not luck that got him to where he is, but work and intelligence, just makes people less successful than him feel insecure and envious. That is where your ignorance truly shines, where as you cannot acknowledge that someone is more intelligent or experienced, you stay believing the world is pitted against you. Instead of perhaps understanding and thinking to yourself, "maybe this rich guy knows a thing or two that I could learn and pick up on," you choose to claim he still had some unrealistic and/or beneficial circumstances that made him succeed once more, instead of just listening and improving. Many lessons and conclusions to be drawn from this man and his experiences. I choose to learn that perseverance and hard work can make anyone succeed. That focus and determination are vital towards the successes of our goals. As well as much more. You choose to conclude that there is some underlying or concealed thing making him succeed. That he is just lucky. That his steps are unrealistic in the real world. That he ignores several issues that can be encountered, never once pondering that perhaps making excuses and discrediting him won't benefit you in anyway. Instead of bringing yourself up to everyone else and above to feel good. To feel smart. To be good. You choose to bring everyone down to and below you to feel better about your issues. To mask your insecurities. To feel better than everyone else. Instead of being like a flower seed that uses the protection given by the Nurse Plant to just peacefully grow, you act like a weed that only grows the tallest by bringing down the plants around it.

When a person is clean, THEN, they can think and function a lot better to do themselves better. But when they are in that blackhole of addiction and to add worse to it a mental condition there is only so far they can go. Because even getting them off the addiction if their mental state is bad/off then succeeding to a millionaire level is very likely not to happen.

@@marlak4203 obviously!!! I never said that, the person said something wrong.. i totally agree with him but, the point of this video is not that... That is what I am trying to convey.

@@lepenseur8242 And the point he is saying is that there is MORE to it than what is being displayed. Him and many others(hence the OP of the video had to pin his comment) are pointing that out. However i understand what you are saying because your going off just what the video is displaying.

"Homeless" for one day, and in tears of happiness because someone decided to give him a bed on the very first night? That says enough about how he would actually cope

For real though like remember when he was getting mad at that guy for "only working 2 and a half hours" or something. Like I get this was an emotional journey but people who really know adversity and living paycheck to paycheck aren’t this entitled.

Not to mention that the key to survive on the streets is not to look like a homeless, and he definitely doesn't.

@@arizonad8012I wonder why we have a piss-poor attitude maybe it's because only 1% of us actually have the ability to live a sustainable lifestyle the fact that more than 1% of us have a decent attitude just goes to show that money doesn't make the man

I think he did it. The goals we set are ever changing, thats the American dream. We set goals for different reasons. Along that path many things get tested, including our humanity. Him pursuing this goal and not achieving it isn't a failure, its a success story based on the choices you're willing to live with. This is a story about what success looks like to you and how to find it.
