@@isaackalik5257 I think there's an argument for the causality going the other way - those that haven't learned to be independent are going to live at home because that's what's comfortable. I don't agree that living at home necessarily makes you less independent; I think it depends on your family situation. I live at home, and don't spend much at all. Trust Graham on this - I've been living at home for 2 years, and have over 100k saved up just cause there's nothing for me to spend it on at the moment. If you're responsible and appreciative of the privileges you have, its a fantastic (and probably the best) way to build wealth.

@@richardm123 Yeah, that's some good points. I'm sure there is at least a positive feedback loop between it. But I would argue that unless you're paying them rent of some kind then you are technically "dependent" on them for shelter even if you're independent in all other categories. Also the only way to "learn to be independent" is by being independent and making mistakes. But 100k in savings is incredible, well done!! You seem to be the exception to the rule. (or at least in the minority who don't squander their opportunities)

Graham’s tips and reactions are his version of “sell the car, red beans and rice”. If she just made 20-cent coffee, meal prepped, and a no-buy month or quarter, she could really start to turn a corner here. Heck, she could even pay her parents some money for them to cook for her, and she would spend less on food. I hope she found a plan to get out of this - Graham, follow up! Maybe she found a financial plan 😀
