Crazy how clinical doctorate degrees are becoming the entry requirement into therapy fields. Physical therapy was the first, then occupational therapy, and now some are pushing for speech therapy to require a doctoral degree. As an therapist myself, I can confirm that therapists DO NOT get paid enough to warrant a lengthy and expensive clinical doctorate.

@Aevykin
@Aevykin 4 жыл бұрын
@@yeaana You have to consider that most prospective nurses are not getting an ADN anymore as job requirements have largely shifted to BSN. In the current year, BSN students are also coming out with debt, obviously likely not as high as DPT/OTD/MOT, but nevertheless, you can't pick up an ADN now for 10 grand and expect a six figure salary. This could have happened 20 years ago, but not anymore. Furthermore, looking at BLS statistics nationwide, PT's make on average 13k higher than RNs. I would venture to guess that you've been in the field for a while and earned your RN back when a BSN wasn't as mainstream as it is now.

I live in Atlanta with a six figure household income. I’m curious to see how she lives because the cost of living is low depending on the area (low overall compared to LA). Edit: With that amount of debt, she needs to be throwing all her extra income towards it. Instead of vacationing every month, how about every other month or once every quarter. I don’t see how she’s so carefree about it. I wouldn’t go Dave Ramsey extreme because life is short and you should enjoy life but you should also be financially responsible.

Grahm Stephans Step Son I agree. But the OP said "seeing what car she got" and all im saying is the car isnt all that to begin with. Its clear she put down a low (or no) down payment on the car and/or have high interest due to her credit score. There is no good reason why she is paying almost $500 dollars for a 20K car. Her car note should have been less than $200. There was another millenial money video where the girl was debt free from college but was paying like, $600+ a month for her BMW. Now THAT i can see being an issue...but Mazdas arent expensive at all. She could have bought a pre-owned Mazda instead for wayyy cheaper. But i understand that she should have just bought a used car outright so she doesnt have to worry about the monthly payments. All in all, she's terrible with her money.

Many of the top need-blind colleges/universities also "meet full demonstrated need" - so that, if you and your parents fall within their prescribed limits of income, you pay much less than a full-pay student. For many of these universities, such as Princeton, Duke, Brown, and Columbia, the price is reduced so that graduates leave with no actual loans. Many in the next tier also meet mere "demonstrated need" - so the graduates leave with perhaps $10,000 per year total cost. How can going to Brown for four years - being surrounded by the best and the brightest - compare to going to an amorphous 'state school' with none of the same intangibles? Being able to guarantee X or Y income after graduation shouldn't be, and truly isn't, the goal of all those seeking more than simply pedestrian education. Having an education can be an end, in and of itself.

I know some women, especially in Atlanta, want to show off to other women in fashion. Thus you see them buying cloths and shoes they don't need, especially when deep in debt. However if she went frugal for 2 years, all that debt could be wiped out. There is also ways for her to travel with credit card spending on needs. With her salary and connections this could easily get turned around.

We have to have a masters I didn't have a choice to do what I feel called to do... Should I try to pay down my student loan debt or should I just get to the 20 years doing the minimum payment and let it get forgiven at that time?... It didn't count against my house or my car. I have both and was approved for phenomenal interest rates on my house and car... I still have a great credit score.

I'm confused by her budget. If she's making $100k, shouldn't her monthly total be higher? At only $100k, her taxes shouldn't be 47% unless Georgia state tax is insane. The listed budget includes saving, investing, and health insurance which are the things I'd most expect to be left out. What am I missing?

@@carolyna.869 Doubtful. A 100k/year salary means you take home $5k/month after taxes/medical/benefits/etc....then subtract necessary expenses like food, insurance, cell phone, internet, at best she can probably throw $4k/month at her debt. That debt is growing by $1k/month assuming 5.7% interest, so she can reduce debt by about $36k/year....best case scenario she can be debt free in 6years. At that point she'll have $0 net worth, or be about as rich as a homeless person....she'll be in her late 30's by then, in the early stages of menopause, she'll be lucky to ever have kids or if she's lucky she can go into another $100k in debt for fertility treatment and end up with an autistic child. You rarely seem STEM majors with $200k in student debt, because they are good enough at math to realize they are better off committing suicide.
