Last year I read a pretty good book by Adam Shepard who did something similar back in 2007 or 2008 where he went homeless for a year but he wasn't trying to make $1,000,000 he only wanted to have a car an apartment a job and some money in the bank in the end of the year and it was difficult but he accomplished it. The title of his book was Scratch Beginnings: Me, $25, and the Search for the American Dream.

Giving this guy more of an audience just to get views again on a hot topic is a pretty big let down in my opinion. Your first video was at least a cool story and breakdown. This just feels like a desperate grasp on a hot trend. None of his responses ever show a true kind of self reflection and none of his 'lessons' he learns are ever of any real world validity and instead just leaps in logic to match his own view of the world.

Yenno what, on a surface level way of thinking. The fact that he struggled so much I think goes to show it was legit and the fact that he actually attempted it versus just pretending I'll give him credit for. He tried to do a New Game+ playthrough. Was it distasteful, possibly. But at least he legit tried and it goes to show how difficult it is to be homeless which is at base level some perspective building. Perhaps it's one of the hardest lessons he had to learn and he has a better understanding and appreciation for those that go through tough times while in poverty.

The problem with setting out to prove that anyone can make it rich and then playing the victim is that people see it as a distraction from the reality that many are living in and ignorance to the actual struggles of real people. Which is inescapable poverty or a very difficult life especially in USA where wealth inequality is greater than any other developed country. We need actual solutions that include stopping the billionaire class from getting away with not paying hardly any taxes and controlling who has the opportunity to run for political offices. Some people can work hard enough to be lucky to escape poverty but largely we are facing unrealistic medical bills and housing costs that push people into homelessness or the verge of it. We can’t even allocate enough resources for medical care for the most mentally ill, many who have succumbed to drug addiction that plagues every urban city in America after a failed “war on drugs”. All of these issues are resolvable if we stop funneling public funds to the billionaire class and stop stigmatizing poverty and homelessness as people who didn’t try hard enough to escape it. Not everyone wants free hand outs but when every corporation you are forced to shop at to save money is paying less taxes than you and your neighbors, escape feels impossible.
@austinutube98
@austinutube98 21 күн бұрын
And as a millionaire when you attempt to “become homeless” you ignore the fact that you had the support system to become an educated and successful software developer and you don’t lose that education by “becoming homeless”. You also have the convenience to choose to stop being poor at any time, and don’t have the stress of actually losing everything you have and letting down the people who depend on you. All you did is mock actual poor people by pretending to make a bigger sacrifice than you actually did.

That is the scam of this thought theory. If everyone could be millionaires then millionaires would not be wealthy, prices would adjust upwards to even out. Same goes for everyone being billionaires. These people are just snakeoil ideologists who doesn't think beyond the fact, most people will be poor or not so well off, a super minority will have alot or everything. There is always going to be a balance in society to this effect specially in a free market. If you want everyone to be equal to the extremes of being equal then all hail true communism and give everyone only what they need equally.
