I love the fact that they take over 4 minutes to set up the tune before playing the melody! That is state-of-the-art!

Hershel Evans died too young but even in those old recordings from the 1930s his beautiful sound that did the tenor so much justice shone through clearly. Hershel + Lester = the glory of tenor sax

Illinois was the boss. People forget what a infuence he was on so many tenor men. His sound was one of the best ever to come out of a tenor sax.
