I love my smock. They're not for everyone, but they are for me. Mine's the recon smock from Varusteleka. I've had others, and it's by far my favorite. The pockets and reinforcements are all in the right place. All I've done to it as far as modifications go is DWR waterproof the whole thing (not perfect but it'll still breathe - shoulders and head/hood will soak through if it rains long/hard enough) and sew in some strips of gutted paracord inside the pockets for use as anchor points.

Those smock are outstanding for the price you pay. Bjorn uses the same as you. Ive upgraded only because I could and not because of anything being wrong with Sturm/miltec smocks.. Your vids are getting better. You may find you need to modify the mouth of those side pockets at the mouth otherwise things will escape. Well done. I enjoyed this. You're improving on your vids.. Careful on raising the bar.. Ppl start to expect that shit..

Yes it has certainly proven to be worth the money so far...iv noticed that about the side pockets and have plans to remedy that. Not sure why miltec made those pockets different. And thank you on the compliments. I'm slowly figuring this whole video editing thing out more and getting a less camera shy...ha..also does one of your smocks have the rear poachers pouch divided? As in the inside divided into 3 separate compartments?

@@swampdweller1566 Both my German made smocks have that same pocket issue. Stupid design ..Yes. I always divide them myself. I run a seem up them making the one giant pocket into two.. . Helps keep the load more stable and organized. But its just 2 section, not 3.. if you need pics of how i fixed the side pockets i can send them to you at the forum.. its pretty easy to fix.

Hi Swamp Dweller. Thank you for that review. I was surprised at how well it blended in with your woodland background. The pocket set up is used on a number of different jackets from other firms. I really enjoyed the contents of your smock and the reasoning behind the items - sharp and to the point. Loved the state badge on the cap. Stay safe. ATB. Nigel

day - you can practice with the smock until it breaks, and it doesn't hurt anyone, the price is really cool. have several smocks. and i have to say miltec is taking a middle path, they are becoming more valuable, they get a lot of pressure from helikon tex. have already seen the new rain jacket + fleece, is the 2nd gen. good time to you

I been sporting the German Flektarn parka as main hunting outershell. Very similar to that smock. The insulation piece that goes with it is decent, and of particular interest is that it has high riding neck coverage, one of the best I experience. But for hunting the layering of alternate gortex and wool helps reduce sound of plastic gortex. I will look into this smock as it has appearance of comfort and functionality, that being that it is a tool, as an option over that of the German surplus model.
@swampdweller1566
@swampdweller1566 2 жыл бұрын
I view it as a tool. Alot of my time wearing it has been while hunting as well. Tho it isn't actual surplus I had considered getting that liner. I use an M65 field jacket liner the same way in winter tho it doesn't have the collar like the surplus liner does

How waterproof is this jacket? Can you keep cool in it during hotter weather, like rain during summer months?
@swampdweller1566
@swampdweller1566 Жыл бұрын
It is not waterproof. You can treat it with DWR to help make it water repellent to a degree, tho I have not. As far as keeping cool in it..it has pit zips to help ventilation and button and zippers up front to help as well. How comfortable you are in summer really will depend on you and your environment
