I fell a 75 feet cedar tree with 25 inches diameter at the bottom cut point. I used 2 8.0 batteries, and used only the first two bars since the batteries were easy to go dead with only two bars. You will see a big difference when you update to Oregon 16 inch 0.05 gauge low profile bar and chain. I also tried 5.0 batteries, which are obviously not provide enough juice for the saw and were good for smaller tree limbs.

I'm tempted, I have two Stihl gas saws and an Efco.... but I have several acres of broadleaf thinning to do..... 3-6" size. I have a few milwaukee batteries M18 5ah, but I feel like I'd need 2 x 12 ah if I get the Saw...... Decisions.

The H.O. batteries have 21700 cells in them and they can dump more amps at cooler temps, and the saw is optimized to use those amps like you said. The standard batteries ( 5.0 and 4.0) use the old 18650's and just can't dump the amps that the motor desires for full power. Can you use them? Yup you sure can, but you will notice decreased power when compared to the H.O. line of batteries.

I bought a mini Chinese chainsaw in Europe for only 15 Euros. It is not the brand but it does its job well. I manage to clean the tree branches in the garden. 😂

Corded electric work well and cost much much less.

They do. Imagine dragging a cord around a 2 acre or larger property. You'd have to get a heavyweight PowerStation that could power it. Corded would do ok on a small lot 🍻

It’s 2024. I’m not using a corded saw. Give me gas on big trees and battery powered on pole saws or on small trees.
