Milwaukee vs Metabo hpt….it didn’t end well

The match up between the Milwaukee gen 4 impact driver and the Metabo hpt tripple hammer. This triple hammer is boosted up by over volting it with the strongest flex 24v battery. This comparison didn’t end very well for EITHER of them.

If the Milwaukee had to start impacting at the beginning of driving the 12 inch GRK, then it was pretty apparent the Metabo HPT was going to struggle with that test overall. Nice comparison and great video!

@@Kaleb_RoSs It's a smooth impact driver. I have to agree with another commentor, though, about the selector on the drill. I returned the 620 inch pound Metabo HPT drill because the selector felt like it could be bumped out of position way too easy.

I have some Metabo HPT tools. I love the triple hammer and nailers. Was not a fan of the 18v Recip and Circ saws. But hey they have great sales. If you can get Metabo HPT at the same price as Kobalt, Ridgid, or Craftsman it is almost always a win and the HPT line generally among the best value in power tools.

I have had pretty poor reliability with Milwaukee. I have had 4 m12 & m18 batteries die on me, all less than 2 yearsold. Then my m12 polisher stopped working one day. Finally my m18 fuel hammer drills chuck broke and would no longer hold bits without them falling out. I was denied warranty on all of them because the store no longer had my receipt. I ended up going back to Dewalt. I have multiple yellow tools & batteries from 5 years ago that work great. I will soon be selling the rest of my Milwaukee tools

Yea I haven’t had great luck with Milwaukee either. Plenty of broken batteries, broken m12 driver broken gen 4 hammer drill on the first use and a broken 2767 impact wrench within 9 months. Maybe just bad luck for me.

@Kaleb_RoSs which batteries have you had more issues with. M12 or M18? I have actually had 3 m12 and two m18 batteries quit charging. They show like 5 volts, and the charger won't even recognize them. I have heard you can jump-start them, but I am a little wary of doing that, considering they are lithium batteries.

@Kaleb_RoSs I haven't had any physically break. But they had constant charging issues. It seems they have no protection from being discharged too much. I have dewalt batteries from 2018 that get used constantly and work fine. Only Milwaukee has given me such trouble.

My only beef with Metabo HPT is why they cant seem to put a decent FWD/ REV switch in the drills, like what is in the impacts? It is strange. It works, but is very ‘mushy,’ even on my 36 Volt drill? It is not a positive click as you go between locking off the trigger into Fwd or Rev. My Triple Hammer has a very. Nice switch.

@@DiligentDave1966 Yeah Dave, that is how I scored most of my Metabo stuff. Sorry it didn’t work out for you. Can you believe I picked up two of the 36 MultiVolt drill kits, with nice hard side cases, at my local Lowe’s, for a total of 230 dollars or so after taxes! Then I used that receipt to get two ‘free’ 36 volt batteries on their Rebate program, awhile back. Take care

@@georgedavall9449 I wish the drill would have had a better selector because I’ve heard it’s a great little drill. The store had a few left when I returned it, so I tried another one and it was the same so I just got a refund. I do have the 36v triple hammer impact driver, though, and it’s pretty sweet. It’s not the Bolt, but it works great. I got it on clearance for $70 and it came with 2 batteries and a charger. I don’t need to be on just one platform, so I can always pair it with a drill from a different brand. As long as the tools come with batteries and a charger, I’m good with whatever does the job.

it's been funny watching these videos and i don't mean any shade by this but, i basically "grew up" on Milwaukee impacts and i never actually realized how underpowered most other brands impacts where comparatively till i used a DeWalt one on a jobsite few years back cause i forgot to throw my driver box in the truck, It's actually surprising. Not sure if it's just cause it's what i both learned on and got used too but i never found my gen 2, 3, 3.5 or 4 M18 to be "not smooth" even after trying some Makita, Metabo & Festool Impacts i just was never impressed by other brands outside of the ring light setup some brands have, but idk just me i suppose. (also before anyone wonders why i've had every gen outside of gen 1, it's simple often times where i live they throw deals that making buying a quick charger, batteries and impact cheaper than just buying the battery by itself and it never hurts to have backup impacts around just incase although i've never had one break yet outside of the Gen 3s bad collet retention for spade bits)

They are built for power but lack longevity.. and more often then not can't be repaired when they brake in america it's worth it cause you get a 5 year warranty outside of America you get a 1 year ... watch power tool repair videos to do the repairs on most Milwaukee tools it cost as much as buying a new tool or more which makes the repair not worth doing . Dewalt is the same the issue with Milwaukee (tti) and dewalt (SBD) is the armature switch control board and battery connection is sold as one piece making it cost as much as the tool.. good tools for mechanics for anything else it doesn't really make sense .

Try putting that Flex battery on the Milwaukee. Now that is the ultimate in speed and power for an impact. I know SoAlz shits on them all the time, but I like Makita for delicate intricate work where speed and power isn't a requirement. When it is, I go with my Milwaukee. To me, the Makita just feels better in my hand than the Metabo HPT.

Interesting with the flex battery lol. I love my triple hammer I have the 36v Bolt but im thinking of swapping to the new 18v Bolt, apparently it performs exactly the same but you can run the smaller 18v batteries which is good because I like to carry light. It's a different tool than the stuff Milwaukee is putting out though for sure, it has less power and speed but gains much more finesse especially with the slower modes actually being slow but not hopelessly weak. Good for delicate screws, small screws and finer work. They actually have a brand new model in Japan with a CRAZY slow mode that actually starts impacting even with no load, which makes it super consistent and predictable for REALLY fine work. Cool stuff, nice to see some R&D put into things other than max power and speed

Started buying milwuakee tools due to the sales at home depot. So far I have an m12 hammer drill die within three minutes of just trigger pressing and playing with clutch and forward and reverse buttons an m18 hammer that has a clacking sound when reducing speed from full in speed 2.
