@@TheVagabond627 Despite the title of the franchise, he's really not, and hasn't been since he was stripped of the War portfolio by Zeus in GoW2. As Kratos is replacing Fárbauti in Norse mythology, Kratos is more like a god of chaos. That also happens to fit everything he did in Greece. Not to mention that his signature weapons are the Blades of Chaos. Interestingly, his name is similar to his great-grandmother Khaos, the primordial goddess of chaos in Greek mythology. Everywhere Kratos goes, everything he does, leads to upheaval, change, destruction and rebirth. Like wildfire, Kratos sows chaos, and revolution follows in his wake. I got the game the day it came out on PC and even though I watched play-throughs of it back when it first came out, I didn't remember that. This sequence, with the retrieval of the blades, the apparition of Athena and when Kratos tells Atreus they're Gods gave me chills. This game is a masterpiece, I can't stop playing it, I'm gonna 100% it and will most likely launch a new game + right after that. Knowing what happens doesn't even change how fun the game is, that's how you know this game is one of the GOAT. @imperatorboxing50712 жыл бұрын
I imagine his guess was something along the lines of Hercules if he didn’t know he died, since he’s also a Demi god known for his strength.
@Akillez2 жыл бұрын
@@imperatorboxing5071 the problem with your theory is that, Mimir knows Kratos name. He calls him that and so does Freya. How do Mimir and Freya know his name but doesn't know he's u know Kratos, if that makes since, because like Mimir know what went down in Greece and the story of the ghost of Sparta. So wouldn't he know Kratos is that same person, right from the back when he hears his name. Unless in the stories they never referred to Kratos as his real name and only the alias "The Ghost of Sparta" or other names, which would make sense. But idk that seems too plot convenient, maybe I'm looking too deep for a plothole.
@imperatorboxing50712 жыл бұрын
@@Akillez you’re right, maybe they know only the base level of the Greek pantheon, only the most bare minimum level information like the king of the Gods in Zeus and the man who killed them all like the ghost of Sparta, I forget what he said about Athena, can’t remember whether Mimir knows or her or not.
@Akillez2 жыл бұрын
@@imperatorboxing5071 he does know Athena, when Kratos seen Athena on the ride back to get the blade of chaos. Kratos mentions her name when he sees her. Ofc Mimir can't see her but hears the name. It’d be interesting to see how Kratos would interact with a “benevolent” pantheon, tho I’m not sure any exist, unless you consider like, Native American tribal spirits a pantheon. I wonder if Kratos will eventually take on the Egyptian gods, or if the Roman counterparts to the Greek Gods are considered their own entities in the God of War universe. Seeing Athena and Horus interact could be pretty cool.
@misteranonymous56162 жыл бұрын
Maybe the Indian one ? Since hinduismt is still large so they will be forced to make em benevolent
@gibbysplendid37252 жыл бұрын
i mean these pantheons were not intended to be “malevolent” they twisted these flawed pantheons into human and relatively evil versions of themselves. So no pantheon in the GoW universe would be “benevolent” really.
@alexjames47702 жыл бұрын
@@gibbysplendid3725 I mean, it’s very rare the Greek gods were portrayed in a good light, usually only particular demigods, like Hercules, Perseus, Calypso, etc are. And the Norse gods aside from the King and Queen are usually not particularly benevolent.
@lorelord24182 жыл бұрын
@@gibbysplendid3725 The Greek gods weren't benevolent IRL. They were cruel gods, and the people worshipping them were more bribing them for their blessings. You can see evidence of this with Poseidon and Zeus, where the people would sacrifice to the gods so that the gods wouldn't ruin their lives. The closest to a benevolent Pantheon in the ancient religions would have to be the Babylonian pantheon, with gods like Ishtar and Enlil. The gods of Babylon strove to protect them and care for them, instead of having gods use them for sport

That lecture at the end was really good on how it explains Kratos' mentality of Gods, They were the cause of his first family's death, they've killed him on several occassions, finds out that he's the son of the man who sticks his d#$% in everything, now Kratos has to deal with the concept that his new son is part god which makes that huge gap preventing him from being close to him
