True friends want to see you succeed, but they will also be truthful and push you when you're messing up.

Same goes for family members.... the closest people sometimes can be your worst enemy. Brothers, fathers, cousins. They may need to be completely cut out in order to meet the true potential within yourself.

The same goes for culture sometimes your community can just be full of a bunch of fools! Who sees anyone not acting like a fool burned at the stake. A lot of freedom in building up your own community and choosing who you let into your heart and life. The best revenge is two love it teaches and leads by example it invalidates their existence and forces them to think maybe that way is better. Sorry grew up in a mind-controlling tyrannical cult this writing and thinking is my therapy. :)

So just like clothes, as you get bigger your friends no longer fit you. Gotcha

Omg! This was the first step in getting healthier for me. I drank heavy for years and stayed up late. I replaced almost all of my friends 3 years ago when I stopped drinking.

That’s exactly why I want to build a new circle,I’m 32 and all the boys still drink and I’m 100% sober and dedicated to my art

This happened to me. I was pretty into partying 21-27…slowed a bit around 26… 30 now and completely over going out and drinking. My life focus changed and doing well with my health and career. All my friends still doing the same shit..they don’t even call me anymore. They all hang out still. I didn’t even try to cut them off, I just changed my habits and it naturally happened.

Realizing this is crucial to growth, but WAY harder than people make it out to be

That’s what I need to do I’m sick of the disrespects especially with negative people.

It's even more glaring when you work in the community, and start to partner/collaborate with other organizations. It's like you're on different radio frequencies, especially when you notice people in cliques and herd mentalities/mindsets. You can't relate to them after a while, because you see they've settled for the average, while your mindset is seeing things that the average can't/won't see.

I have friends for over 25 years but I know they have habits that can’t help me mentally and grow toward my potential. But at the same time they have been by my side as brothers and the Hardest thing is accepting 26 years of friendship going away. I’ve dealt with depression and some bad situations in life and I feel lost at times not having that around as much even though I know I need to keep people at distance. Such a hard thing to deal with

how do you do it though, just don't meet them? tell them up front? what to say when they ask why you are avoiding them? i completely agree and have done that and in "hard times" i go back to them bc they ask why i simply avoid them now
@peanuthead73592 жыл бұрын
Not sure why you want to cut them out. For my they all still party and drink and don’t really have any other goals/ambitions other than that. They chase impulsive pleasure. I’m 30 now, been over it for a long time. Some of them I straight out sat down and had the conversation with almost like breaking up with somebody and the others naturally just faded away. They don’t even call me or text me anymore. They know I’m not about that life. They are all basically just drinking buddies who have nothing in common other than getting drunk on the weekends.

If your circle of friends are heavy drinkers, likes to party, you will become like them and don't expect you will be successful in life.

Very well said. i think real freinds are rare today, most people are selfish and toxic.
