I think that another reason why mobs were balanced way better in Beta is that Singleplayer and Multiplayer hadn't been merged yet, so there was no simulation lag which makes mobs very responsive, while in modern versions after the SP/MP merge in 1.3 entity movement is super choppy and sluggish

It’s also probably because of sprinting, which was added in b1.8.

An interesting thing I noticed is that the trampling mechanic, combined with higher animal spawn rates, creates an emergent "feature" where mobs will "eat" your crops, encouraging you to make fences around your farms and to eliminate grass from them as much as possible. I feel like with some tweaks, this could be an interesting mechanic in modern.

The crash slab is a broken block that has no name in the game memory, do whe you scroll the mouse on it, it tries to read a name that does not exist, returning NIL and by so crashing the game. This block can't be patched in any B1.7.3 server, so admins normally just seek out for those people who make those and ban then. (Btw, the slab only crashes your client, and not the server)

I suppose so! It offers a slightly different experience to modern, both are great options. Also been working on the Mango Pack project which sort of aims to preserve all those old mods, and patch them up. 👍

for the first one, i stagger my double doors so the right door is on the back edge of the block right of the pressure plate and the left door is on the front edge of the block behind the pressure plate. the doors are uneven but it saves redstone and only needs 2 plates. it looks fine in hallways since the doors won’t poke out.

i recently started re-playing vech's 1.7.3 beta super hostile maps. All I can say is, i have more fun doing these challenges, than playing Hypixel Skyblock for example. The maps are brutal, but once you get the hang of it, you know how to strategically make decisions on how and when to explore the map.

I tried to create a world on beta 1.5 and 1.7.3 because I like the color of the grass and those nice mountains that Minecraft used to generate, but I end up in flat place and the color of the grass looks the same as all the new versions of Minecraft.

Interesting! Some seeds are better than others, I recommend trying alternatives such as the ‘Notch’ or ‘Jeb’ seed!

Minecart boosters that were patched out in beta 1.5 still worked in console edition up to at least TU4 (beta 1.7 equivalent) I have yet to test what other differences console has.
