Etho, you are fine using a bone shard in you pickaxe. Everyone is saying you can't harvest obsidian because you used a bone shard and not an iron shard, but that's not the case. The Iguana's Tweaks mod makes it so newly crafted tools are not at their full potential (they work at one mining level lower than they are advertised to). You have to use it enough for it to level up (marked by the mining level experience in the tool tip) and then it can be used to mine at the level it is intended to. Also, you can add a mob head to your tool to level it up, but you have to use a specific mob head for each different mining level (don't know what goes with what though).

Etho, you can save time with the TC tools. If you put your old tool in when fully repaired (E.g. pickaxe) in the tool station/forge, then put a better material part for part of the pickaxe (e.g. pick head) you can replace the old one

This is particularly useful because you keep all the xp and modifiers your tool has gained (e.g. the redstone on the hatchet) and leveling up tools requires you to mine a lot of blocks.

Closer to the center of town, there are short industrial looking buildings with chimneys; orange for pneumaticcraft and grayish blue for tinker's. The machines (and the smelteries) are there.

ok, we all know by now the torch trick for mining dust doesn't work, but I just discovered dust does break if it falls on an oak sapling. Use a dirt block to break the bottom piece of dust and quickly place your dirt, then break the piece of dust on top of it and place your sapling. If the timing is a bit off the dust may just rest on top of the sapling at first but if you break the piece right above it the rest of the stack will break on contact. obviously only useful for fairly deep holes.

You can get obsidian blocks without a pick - Put a bucket of lava in a STONE barrel then put a water source block above the barrel. The lava will turn to obsidian and you can remove it from the barrel by right clicking.

use the autonmous activator on the sieve to produe ores quicker. The buildings youwant to look for are two only two floors. one has a orange factory block chimmney. this one is for pneumaticraft. the second one has a silver coloured chimmney stack. this one has tinkers gear in it. the PC one has two spawners inside. one inside the "damaged" pressure chamber. and on second floor. The tinkers building has usually 4 spawners. 3 bottom floor and one upper floor. the third main building is the reactor building. htis is "Stupidly" dangerous. you need to go onto the "roof" and break the dark glass to let light in. there is normally 4 -6 blaze spawners around the edge. on bottom floor there is up to 4 creeper spawners buried under the reactor. also the first building you entered where you stood on the table with 7 bricks directly next to it with creeper faces. break those as chest underneath.

And also in the city there are 2 buildings that you need to go in they have chimney sort of things coming out of a 1 story high bit then atached is a 2 story building in the two buildings there will be over a stack of compressed iron and some parts you need for the pressure chamber, and the other buiding there will be a tk smeltery you can tell the two buildings apart becuase the chimneys are made out of different blocks

Hey Etho, you don't need a pick to get obsidian. You just need to put a bucket of lava in a stone barrel and pour water over the top of it, then right click the barrel once the lava has turned to obsidian. Very easy to automate as well.

Etho, you know that ctm map you played a while ago? (Simulation Protocol) Well the author made a 2 ctm map, and is being released tomorrow (October 1) You should play it with pause and beef like you did in the 1 one.

(Somebody already said this, but...) make one of the clay barrels, then put lava in it. Pour water on top and it'll turn into a barrel of obsidian, you can right-click it and it'll give you the block without you having to mine it. The dyes are decent loot. They're hard to get otherwise and they're used in various crafting recipes. A lot of the buildings have "elevators". Just grey blocks in the ground you jump off of to move up a floor. When you make a new head for a tool, you can swap it out via the repair option in the tinker's table, so the new head goes onto the old tool, keeping some of the aspects of the old one and saving materials if the head is all you want to update.

That's now how it works. That's not how any of this works. The head is the only part that determines the harvesting quality. The handle determines the durability modifier. The binding gives you another slot for multiple attributes.

Qc Diamond Actually, no. Iguana Tweaks makes it so that mining level upgrades only increase the pick's power by a single tier. It also makes it so that, at least for some of them, and I believe all of them, they only upgrade *from* a specific tier.

Regarding the city: The smaller (Two-story) buildings have machines in them. You'll have to go deeper into the city to find them, but they're far more profitable, and safer, than the taller ones. They have chimneys on them so they stand out. The tall buildings have elevator blocks though. Even if you don't want loot, until you get a mob farm, you won't have access to elevator blocks any other way. Take a few of those from the first floor of a few buildings. And most importantly have fun! The city is extremely dangerous and generally not recommended until you have more lives, (sync mod, which you CAN power with thermal expansion btw) but definitely worth the trip if you can make it out. If you have technical questions it's always worth starting up a creative crash landing world. Hardcore survival modpacks don't leave much room for error, so test things out there before you commit to them in your normal world. Especially for mods you're unfamiliar with.

Etho, if you replace parts of your tools you keep the tool's skill level. The city is full of elevator blocks(every skyscraber), and smeltery parts, pressure chamber parts, pneumaticraft machines and energy cells can be found in some factory buildings. And there are some chests hidden under blocks(eg. under the center desk in the building you where in). I'm a little surprised you're still alive, but keep up the good work.

Two tips: You can build stone barrels, put lava in them and then cover with water to get obsidian, no pick required to pick it up. After killing 50 zombies, a hidden quest appears to kill a bunch of mobs, with a SPAMR launcher as a reward, and a sync core, machine frame or energy cell as an optional reward. You can get sync before a proper city trip! A mob farm is useful here.

All the pressure chamber stuff can be found in the city, you can get pretty much all of the Pressure stuff you need from there, the walls , the machines and a bunch of compressed iron, you went into a bibliocraft building, there are different buildings and they contain stuff based on one mod, there is also a tinker's construct one where you can find stuff for the High Oven. Etho, good call on breaking the spawners. You will only get zombie pigmen that can 1-hit-kill you from the one you broke, and other spawners also spawn extremely tough mobs! Also, you should set up that sync shell, I think you skipped the quest for that, but yes it is essential for you to have a shell you can come back to if you're going to visit the city, or it's map over if some mob kills you, *and they will if they get any chance* to do so! I think the cheapest shell is the one you should build early-game, the one that requires a lot of expensive materials is more of a late-game item.

Etho, the goodies are in the city, but in small buildings with one block towers above them. The towers are not that big compared to the rest of the buildings, but you will know you found the goodies when you see a tower of factory blocks.

Instead of weighting your mouse, you can hold right-click and press F11 to toggle fullscreen, and let go of the mouse button while it's switching to/from fullscreen mode, and Minecraft will still think you're holding the button. Then you can alt-tab and do other things with your computer while you're spending forever and a half sifting through gravel. As for things that right-click for you, the only other thing I can think of is the Dynamism Tablet from Thaumic Tinkerer, but I don't think that's in the pack, so... pretty sure Autonomous Activators are your only option. Also, it's generally really fun for your audience when you choose the reward bags. I don't know about this pack, but in Agrarian Skies, you could get some _really_ cool stuff from those! ... Not _often_, but it was crazy awesome when you did.

ETHO, you can get the walls etc. from the city, as well as those machines and much of the smeltery items. Also, if you desire them, there are elevator blocks in those buildings. And make sure that the zombie pigmen don't touch you - they've got POISON. There's also blazes in there and at some point you'll need to make potions, so collecting a blaze rod or two wouldn't hurt.

Etho there are two types of buildings you want to go into. Both are factory looking with chimneys sticking out. One type has blue chimneys and that one is full of tinkers blocks, and the other one has orange chimneys and that has machinery and compressed iron. However a couple of the business buildings, hotels, and apartment buildings have somewhat good loot; iron, invar, gold, ender pearls, etc.

Etho, in the city there should be smelteries which you can disassemble and bring back to the ship as well as pressure chamber parts and lots of compressed iron. This will save you grinding. The PCB also has a recipe that doesn't require complicated machines, but it's an in-world process so that's why you can't lookup the recipe.

You can upgrade your tools by placing a corresponding part of higher rank. For example, if you have a bone pick head, you can make an iron one and it can change it. You don't need to make a whole new tool. You just have to repair the old one :D (also, the city has a couple smelteries, and pneumaticraft machines in it. You can find from red heart canisters to green ones. One smeltery has a chest with 3 cobalt, and another other with 3 ardite)

For faster processing of dust sand gravel etc. you should look into Steve's factory manager it can go through a stack of materials in about a minute. Also you were looking for elevators and you were standing next to one in the city, on the first floor of the building you were in. There are 3 building types in the city that have machines, 1 for Tinkers stuff, 1 for Pneumatic craft and in some cities a big reactor building. These building are easily spotted by their chimney's in the case of the first 2 the big reactor building is made of caution blocks.

Etho a short city guide A. there are lifts in most building (grey blocks on floor) just jump or duck while standing on them to go up one level or down one level. B. look for the short (2level) buildings with chimerys there basicly forges, there have pressure chambers blocks/tinkers construct/thermal expansion stuff in them, there normally further inside the city. C. endermen spawners can be found in some buildings. D. set up two towers with ladders up-to around level 128, one at home & one at the city you should be able to fly from either one home or to the city (saving food/water and time, you may even wish to set a platform up on top of them with a bed. E. every building has spawners in it (beware of Blazes & pigmen in suits (very high HP)) F. wear wooden armour, it dosn't raise you temp by much. G. turn mobs on, on your mini map/radar H. if you clear a builing out at the edge you can use it as a city base. End also think about diging a moat & putting up a wall around you base!

Etho you can use the crucible to make lava and if u pour water over the crucible with the lava in it you get obsidian,which then you can just right click on the crucible and get.

Etho, everything you need to make the pressure chamber is in the city, and the smelteru as well. Look for the building that have chimneys on them. They are shorter then the other building as well. You can also get the lazer constructer thingy there. you just have to be patient and look around

the assemble parts, pressure chamber, smeltery and high oven are all in the cities, the buildings that contain them are like 1 taller and 1 shorter building connected to each other, the shorter one has several one pillar blocks coming out to make it look like air ventilation(?) btw, obsidian can be obtain by pouring lava into a stone barrel and let water run through it

Etho if you check near the desk from Bibliocraft in the first building (there is a few building that have the same configuration) there is a hidden chest under one of the blocks (if you look at the connected texture on the floor you can see where is it) you have a good chance to find a Flux-Infused Pickaxe that can mine obsidian cost energy tho. An easy way to obtain obsidian is to make a stone barrel put lava in it and pour water on top of that. With this you don't even have to mine it! Keep up the good work!
