literally just made a post yesterday day on a r/minecraftsuggestions talking about how abundant villages and ruined portals are. making them soooo tiring to find. they aren’t special anymore! They need to make a majority of the surface level structures significantly more rare to breathe some sort of excitement into finding them

I feel they should have dispersed the structures between the dimensions to help reduce the bloat. They are almost always found in the overworld.

1:45 nice titanic joke when saying shipwreck, got me laughing! 4:56 I have no words. Now for the wall of text... I think the idea of making structures rarer and have better loot is a good solution. However I also think we need more of the flavor structures like desert wells. The scenery would just be spicier if there's lots of random structures like desert wells that don't do much besides looking nice. If you want to keep that "covid isolation" feeling in the game, than the common structures could be non-man made. What if there was a fallen tree structure, a rock pile on the surface, natural creeper holes, lakes, etc. Structure overabundance in my opinion isn't the core issue, it's the quality of them. Shipwrecks are nice early game but don't do anything late game. Ruined portals are nice, but don't do anything late game. EVERY structure in this game isn't particularly useful late game. RLcraft has a whole DIMENSION just for end game. What does minecraft have for mid-late game structure content? nothing really. I think increasing the rarity of all structures doesn't solve the issue. Instead, MAKE new structure that are specifically designed to BE RARE and UNIQUE. The issue of having too many structures is only an issue if those structures are not exciting to find. While yes, having an overabundance can reduce the excitement, it can also improve gameplay because you'll be getting fed lots of "dopamine" as you explore and find all the little structures. Which will ultimately motivate you to continue to explore because of the "bread crumbs" you're being fed. I definitely agree that we need rare structures. Nice little conversational video, anyway wall of text is over!

I actually am really in favour of more "flavour structures." Finding the occasional fallen tree (which is actually in bedrock) creeper hole etc would be awesome little bites of world building. I wish I could speak on RLcraft and its quality but I've never played it a day in my life. Actually my favourite mod for Minecraft is the ps1 mod (MCSX Minecraft) but I'd never want that mod to be base-game. I think a middle ground between our arguments would be to make what currently exists a bit rarer but also make structures designed with the idea to be unique and more for the mid-late game. Honestly if you had a discord I wouldn't mind furthering this talk

no you got it all wrong.... there just isnt enough structures. we just need more different structures. there should be plenty of small nice structures u can find everywhere. it makes the game feel more alive, but there is also a need for rarer,larger and more challenging structures for the end-game, like the mantions and deep dark. (just with more worth a while loot)

I feel it would be a lot better if you went out 4000 blocks in a single direction instead of 2,000 blocks in a square because most people don't treat their road like a map to fill in the blanks. They just find a place that's good or explore until they have to progress And I think the abundance of structures is a good thing due to the exclusivity of let's say armor trims you don't want people looking for them for hours? And I filled minecraft's world has been made to make it more alive. Make it seem like there's people before you and in order versions it was more about being alone or at least the feeling of being alone. The structures make it a lot more lifeful And just to conclude this, I feel it's more of a opinion based observation instead of something that needs to be fixed or is just fine

I watch the video fully. I like the solutions you gave. Not really the swords by like the potion idea. Overall it's a really good video. I just think a bit of bias weighed it down a bit

Yes just seeing the title yes. There are WAY too many. World feels oversaturated. They need to add a really basic feature older procedural generation games had...the ability to scale how many generated structures spawn.

i think the structure density comparison with an older version of minecraft is a really weak argument since obviously by adding more structures without decreasing the chance of previous structures the overall density goes up - and your argument just becomes 'old minecraft good new minecraft bad' which is kind of shallow I do think a deeper dive on perhaps the psychological phenomenon of why the lower density is beneficial to the overall experience and what the 'perfect' density is would be a very interesting video premise

furthermore, I think you group all structures together in a way that's way too simplified - some structures, namely the 'natural' ones like lava pools etc. don't take away from the feeling of loneliness the same way as the other structures to me there seems to be 3 main groupings 1. fully natural structures: this includes the aforementioned lava pools and perhaps unique and rare biomes like the mushroom biome or even perhaps the ruined portal (could be next category though) - I wouldnt mind seeing an increase in variety and density of these as they add that feeling of the sublime without impacting loneliness which I think are the main driving factors behind the vibe Minecraft gives 2. abandoned manmade structures: mineshafts, temples, igloos, etc. these I want to see have an increase in variety but also less dense; it shouldnt be a crazy rare experience to see one of these but it SHOULD be very rare that you see two of the same abandoned structure while exploring 3. populated structures: villages, pillager outposts, ocean monuments, etc. I fully agree that these need to be toned way down as the game currently stands. I think the main reason they still exist the way they do is because they have great loot, but it would be a great solution if they just thinned the loot out so that abandoned structured had much better loot and so villages aren't so imperative to look for in the early game.

I mean, I announciated what the problem is with too many plenty of times in the video. A deep dive of psychology is absolutely not something I'm qualified for. I'm not sure I'd personally say it becomes, "old Minecraft good new Minecraft bad" when I said I take major problem with how horrible the loot was. Rareity is exciting because it makes every find special, not every desert had an exposed dungeon. You can pretty reliably find a few shipwrecks per few hundred blocks into the ocean or expect to find at least one ruined portal in a plains. When you see it so much there's definitely a loss of excitement as it just becomes expected and normal. I touched on it in the solutions chapter but I think loot should better/unique and the density 100% needs to be decreased. The old game had a problem with excitement in rareity but, "wtf is this" in loot.
