@@kandyburra nope. It’s real. Early in the pandemic, we all had to clap at 8pm every Thursday for 60 secs in respect of our NHS and key workers. Imagine if you will: You are Georges gf, he goes out for a night with the lads. He's finally left and your hands are trembling, you reach into the back of the cupboard and grab your hidden can of baked beans. You hardly get the lid off before you submerge your spoon in for a little taste before heating them up. You're in your forbidden bliss until George comes in unexpectedly to grab his ID because the bouncer wouldn't let him in. Your eyes lock in shared horror. He turns and leaves. You don't hear him come back home. Deep remorse fills you.

"Bob's your uncle" is a phrase commonly used in the United Kingdom and Commonwealth countries that means "and there it is" or "and there you have it" or "It's done". Typically, someone says it to conclude a set of simple instructions or when a result is reached. found it on wikipedia

The Greggs pizza being labelled as Pain au chocolate is because of change over. Pre 11am, that's breakfast, so instead of serving pizza they serve pain au chocolate and croissants. Then at 11am, the pizza takes the Pain au chocolate's place. Someone just forgot to change the labels, clearly they didn't do their floorwalk correctly. I work at a Greggs btw

Why does the Thames look murky? While you might be thinking it’s pollution, it’s actually not. In fact it’s actually the cleanest river through a major city! It’s murky because of the silt on the riverbed. The effect of tides in its lower reaches toward the sea means that the silt is constantly stirred up that you can see it suspended. Like how the Hudson River for most of its length is a tidal estuary. Saltwater from the ocean is combined with freshwater from its tributaries. And during heavy rains, tributaries feed the river rapidly thus washing new soil particles into the river. Particles could also be stirred during spring when snow melts from the Adirondacks

People are like "Pandemic nostalgia was crazy, remember when we never left our homes and stuff?" I do in fact remember because that's my life everyday being disabled and being stuck in a village that isn't wheelchair accessible. Out of date alcohol? Alcohol is a preservative. It doesn't go out of date. Alcoholic drinks have a "best before" date on them, not a "use by" date. Weak alcoholic drinks can become less pleasant, but they're not going to hurt you. Spirits will remain good for decades. If you can get drinks really cheap after their best before date, grab them.

I moved from Peru to the UK to study about 2 years ago, and the biggest shock was by far how different England (haven't been to the other 3 countries unfortunately) is to the stereotypes I grew up with regarding the English. I imagined it to be overwhelmingly posh, but now I am convinced that this is the most proudly unserious country in the world.
