Re the wheelchair video: hi, wheelchair user here, that wheelchair is a custom active chair and costs thousands. The wheelchair user came out to say how their chair was damaged beyond repair, and they were left stranded as they can't walk at all, they were then bed bound until they could source a new one (a process that can take months). My wheelchair is similar to theirs, but with a power assistance and altogether costs £10k, it's £5k without the power assistance and is fairly bottom of the range for custom active chairs. This video continues to make me cry when I see it, because the way it was received online was that it's not a big deal and the abuse wheelchair users got when we talked about it was horrible to go through. You're breaking an object worth upwards of £5k, and even more so, an object someone needs due to a disability. If this situation happened to me heres a SHORTENED list of what would happen: I'd be bed bound for at least three months until wheelchair services replaced my chair, this could take a LOT longer. I'd get pressure sores from being bed bound (very common), likely resulting in cysts or sepsis due to one of my conditions, leading to a serious hospitalisation. My power assistance (not funded by the NHS) would be broken, and because Access to Work only fund one, and I'm low income, I'd never be able to replace it, and need perminant care to leave the house again. I'd have to take unpaid leave or lose my job, resulting in me potentially losing my flat. I'd be discharged from multiple medical services who refuse to do outcalls even if you're bedbound, resulting in a loss of essential care. I'd need 24 hour care due to being bed bound, which I currently don't have (I'm only funded for 4 hours a day) - a social care review can take a month, so until then I'd need a medical procedure to give me a catheter, and start starving due to not being able to even reach the fridge myself. We aren't exaggerating when we say this can kill or seriously harm someone. There's a reason we need fckn wheelchairs.

The reason that last girls was being stopped was probably not because of her style, but because she’s white and has red hair, which is a very rare site in Japan. I went to Japan with my family back in 2016 and many people stopped to take photos with my younger brother because he had blonde hair and blue eyes, not something you see very often in Japan. This happens in some other countries as well where people stop you to take photos with foreigners, usually in places with less tourism and racial diversity. Hope this helps :)
@kouda_ha10 ай бұрын
I was going to mention this too, well over a decade ago I was an exchange student living in the middle of nowhere and people wanted photos because apparently I was the first foreign person they'd seen in real life lol Other times, I'd still be in rural areas and I'd have people point at me and go (translation wise it'd pretty much be) "Oh shit!" or just "Foreigh person!" and pointing is pretty rude to do in Japan but it'd be people's genuine reactions to seeing a foreign person all of a sudden. I was practically a basement dweller that avoided the sun at all cost too and people would say they were jealous of how pale my skin was lmao so some random pale af foreign woman with super long red curly hair would be a rare sight they'd look at because eh the walk to work/schooling is boring and it's something different lol

6:24: fish don't have lungs, they have gills. when a fish swims, it opens its mouth to let water pass over the gills for them to absorb oxygen that's dissolved in the water, then small blood vessels called capillaries collect the oxygen and distribute it throughout the body, similar to how the circulatory system of humans and other animals.
@thaloblue4 ай бұрын
A fish does appear to “gasp” when pulled out of the water because they are trying to pull water over their gills in a very similar although not identical manner to the way we might gasp when we are out of breath to increase the oxygen level in our bloodstream. A critical difference is that while a fish might be able to pull a bit of water over their gills when they are above water, humans obviously cannot gasp for air effectively below the water’s surface.

23:56 The thing about barefoot walking is that it is only good for you if you plan on walking around in places where the terrain is naturally bumpy like in nature. The reason shoes have arch support is because walking on completely flat ground is not what our feet evolved to do so we have to compensate with our shoes. So, if you're going hiking all the time, it's a great idea to invest in a pair of barefoot shoes! But for normal, everyday activities, going barefoot is gonna end up causing more harm than good

23:39 theres many benefits for walking barefoot and the most important one is making your feet and legs stronger and healthier. Walking barefoot means your feet soles flex around anything it steps on in the ground, thus exercising your muscles. My father started walking barefoot and even worse special "barefoot" shoes and his legs are massive now. Not only that but walking barefoot more often can increase your happiness. I walk barefoot 80% of the time in my house, and its nice, and ive also walked barefoot at school a few times only for short periods of time, with socks on of course (unless i was rushing out of gym class because we had a swimming curriculum in the winter and since i was the fattest, and had long hair, it took me a very long time to get ready for my next class). i also l;ike to walk barefoot outside around my home in the spring and summer, and it feels great to do and makes me feel super happy. so yeah there's benefits.

And yes, as a foreigner in Japan you do get some people staring at you every once in a while, specially if you go to the non-turisty areas (I've lived and studied there for a year, and I can attend to that). That has nothing to do with her style, just with the fact that she doesn't look Japanese. I got the same stares while I was there and I'm not someone very noticeable, I'm a very basic girl.
