I commented before and said the same thing, but I'll say it again... For my money, you have the BEST videos on KZbin. No flashy 5 minute long intros to put me to sleep, no drawn out openers with teasers, etc. Just swinging over actual targets, letting me LISTEN to what you're listening to, with some helpful play-by-play, to boot. Just the way it should be! It seems we are two peas in a pod, as I too am mainly a deep coin hunter chasing the old stuff, and I also mostly detect pre-1900 parks, fields and other similar spots. I am SO happy to hear what you said about the Nox NOT being able to replace FBS, as I came to that same conclusion after trying it on a few outings shortly after it was released. The issue isn't that it's a bad detector, but rather... For the ONE application I need it to excel at (deep coin hunting), it isn't the best tool for the job. That award still goes to the FBS units. The Nox (and MANY other machines) can surely HEAR the targets an FBS unit does, however... Can it ACCURATELY & CONSISTENTLY provide a solid ballpark on what the target might be via depth readings & VDI #'s? I found that answer to be no. Most advanced detectorists like ourselves hunt primarily by tone first, and utilize the depth meter & VDI as additional sources of intelligence to make a dig versus not dig decision. The depth meter & VDI on the Nox being less reliable is like taking 2 legs away from a 3 legged stool...it's prone for failure. Further... The Nox has a nasty habit of giving a good "dig me" tone on assorted junk targets like bottle caps, etc. So even hunting by tone has it's drawbacks. That takes away the 3rd leg of the stool! To be fair, the Nox IS a great unit, especially at the price point its at. I would ABSOLUTELY take it instead of an AT Pro/Max or Deus. But... For those looking to cherry pick the deeper coins amongst trash, definitely not the best option out there. If you're a dig it all type, I'd surely recommend the Nox over FBS. Or maybe you hunt extremely trashy places, where you'll be digging any non-ferrous signals. In that case, again, I'd say the Nox edges out the FBS machines. It's strength is its sped/separation, as you said. But if you need the trifecta - super depth, accurate depth readings & reliable VDI info - there is simply no other units that can beat the FBS's. Keep up the terrific work, and I'm hoping you can find the time to post more often.

Joe Grasso Thank you for the kind words as usual Joe, your comments are so spot on there’s really nothing to add....at all. It’s a perfect synopsis of the entire deal, and everything that has to go with deep old coins. WHILE IT MAY BE TRUE that if one digs more targets that are a little “off” according to the Equinox, it’s possible to come up with a good find. HOWEVER, if a person has the territory to cover, it’s a better use of my time(which is MY most valuable commodity) to use the CTX and utilize the features it has to AVOID digging as many signals. It might seem counterintuitive to some, but when you have a lot of stuff going on, it all comes into view. I think different machines are different tools, and should be used as such. It’s GREAT to get feedback from someone who does the EXACT same thing I do, it really is an art to find some of these coins! Thanks again, it’s MUCH appreciated! Kevin

@@wizardsofwisconsin7400 Please, Kevin, try to post more. I cannot get enough of your videos. I do watch others channels of course, but it isn't the same when I see guys using the AT's, Nox's, Deus', etc. and pulling out the goodies from private homes & farms. Stuff at those types of locations isn't as deep, and most any machine can be used to find those items. What separates the big boys from the rest, is when you're hunting beaten to death parks and other similar areas, where the coins & relics START at around the 6" or 7" mark. And you have to put yourself into a trance to hear the little burps & chirps the detector makes to pull out extreme depth coins for hours on end. It fries your brain! I sometimes laugh when I see these videos where guys are finding silver at 4", because to me, while still fun, doesn't take much skill on the part of the detectorist or machine. Like hunting tot lots...anyone can do it, and any machine can do it. But it takes a PRO with the right knowledge & equipment to scour the dirt and rescue extreme depth coins that others couldn't find.

Masita atisam I appreciate the kind words as always Masita! I certainly don’t claim to know it all or be an expert at anything, but I know ML makes some great machines that work for my purposes. I wish I had more time to film but we’ll try to fix that this spring. Till then, thank you my friend!

Awesome LC Kevin! While it’s no replacement for FBS, the ol’ Nox definitely has its place! I’ve actually started running the recovery speed a little lower in all but the trashiest areas. I find that even with recovery set at 4 or 5 the Nox is still faster than most other machines, and lowering it gives you a little more depth along with extending the tones a bit. Anyway, great video man! Enjoyed it! HH Dewayne

Metal Detecting NWGA Thanks DeWayne! I feel the same all around, and the recovery at 4 seems about as fast as the CTX in “Fast”...I have MUCH to learn but I LOVE how it’s able to give that short report...it hits my ears very nicely. We have machines that are going to take us a long way buddy! Between the speed of this and the accuracy of the other....could they put them together somehow?? If they did that at a reasonable price it would kill off some manufacturers...without a doubt. BTW...when are you getting back out to the magic field? Have you been to a lot of places with the 800 that you’ve been to before? That’s what I’m doing now...just going and batting cleanup🙂
@MetalDetectingNWGA5 жыл бұрын
Heck yeah man! I agree 100%! If they could figure out a way to combine these two machines, or at list give the CTX an optional single frequency turbo mode, make it lighter and I’m all over it! Heck I wouldn’t even mind paying a couple grand for that machine. I haven’t been back to the honey hole in a while. Signals are few and far between there nowadays. Will probably turn the dirt again next spring.
