I would like to thank you for the publicity you have helped give Minetest it is growing very fast. As a content developer I am glad it is attracting interest. Needless to say, I may be called a "veteran", but it is very easy to become one, it requires less average time than Minecraft because the features that it holds are all modifiable.

Fun fact, bare bone minetest is not a full game. Rather, it's more like a game engine in which to create games or to which to add mods.

Nice video! And, if Minetest keeps getting popularity (which I hope it does), your number of subscribers could rise weeeeellll above 100, but we'll have to see! Also, I think a video about all the default world generation options (v5, v6, v7, superflat, etc) would be very useful for new players and players who do not really know much about what they are or mean

I would love to see a one to one comparison between a play through of Minecraft’s main survival mode and Minetest’s Mineclone. Unfortunately 1. Nobody seems willing to do it 2. Mineclone isn’t supported for 5.6.0 I had access to Minecraft I purchased years ago but lost the email/password and don’t want to pay for it again so when I found Minetest I was thrilled.

You DO know you can get earlier versions of this, right? but I actually wasn't even aware that mineclone wasn't supported on the latest version of minetest. . I've been playing version 5.1.1 and have elected to stay parked there... moving up to the latest version usually results in mods breaking, then you'd have to wait FOREVER for the mod devs to update it, which MAY not even happen. in most cases... a mod usually NEVER gets updated to the latest format, not unless it's a popular, on high demand mod. the mobs API with mobs monster and mobs animal are usually the ones to get updated, there may be a few other mods out there that do, but for the MOST of em... it's gonna be a soundly NOPE! in additions to this... I kinda CAN'T update myself to the newest version even if I wanted to... bizarrely, ever since version 5.2 rolled around, I encountered problems... when THAT one started up, I got an unusual error in red print flash in the top screen upon starting the world(CAN'T remember what it said)and in versions 5.3 and beyond... these DIDN'T load up AT ALL... it just gave me a crash. Now... am not really all that interested in moving up. before 5.1 rolled around, I was a happy 5.0 player, and the ONLY REASON I moved up at all was because they incorporated a nifty option I just HAD to have... this version was the birth of an option you had to manually toggle(which I imagine STILL remained this way to this day)called long walls and fences, which made walls and fences un jumpable! AND it worked even on mobs too! before this, this was only exclusive to the mob fence included with the mobs mod. not a whole lotta variety going on there, let me tell ya! the only reason I EVER bothered checking later versions was to browse and see what's different. even though I can't start up any of the latest versions anymore... I can STILL pop the hood on these new versions and take stuff out and include them to my version! I've updated my sounds with the new ones AND I took that awesome smelting sound effect from the furnace that was included in some later version(not sure when THIS one arrived). as far as am concerned... the ONLY thing the new versions have over me are the shadows(which I kinda didn't even feel all that much, tbh)... a couple of new mods that introduce things like head anime... and maybe just slightly more polished graphics. but that's about it. I haven't really been missing much, the BIG deal for me was the long fences and walls thing and I have at least that. moving up, would mean losing some of my own cool mods anyways so no thanks. . .

Also, on the second point... If you use v7, you can tell a tree is natural if it grows one block below the ground... trees planted with saplings do not grow below ground (except jungle prob)

I'm interested in getting into Minetest, and I think you could do a video on Minecraft clones such as Mineclone 2 and 5 and Mesecraft, since there's likely a huge interest in those right now.

I might start a Let's Play series on Mineclone 2 one day, but I really want to make watchable short videos that appeal to the majority players about the base game experience. Everybody knows Minecraft, so making a Mineclone 2 showcase video is kind of pointless, and won't get as much attention as my current format of videos. My videos are the first of its kind for Minetest, and I really want to keep with the momentum. Thanks for the suggestion nontheless 👍

In the pause menu on PC there's a "change keys" button. See which key is used there. On Android there's a cog icon on the right-hand side. Tap that icon then tap the eye icon in the expanded menu.

That doesn't need mods look at your controll settings to see which key is for 3rd person view (sorry, I have myself changed it to F7 and don't remember which key was it in default) And for the shaders, just do these on settings: Enable shaders, enable shadows, change the shadows to medium or high or very high if your system is able to run it. Also these: waving leaves, waving liquids, waving plants You can also enable antialiasing and mipmaps

Minetest doesn't come with animals by default. The game wants you to download a mod for animals. I recommend the Animalia mod, as it's one of the most polished animal mods in Minetest.

How do you get shadows working?

You will need a device which supports OpenGL, which would be a PC or laptop, then you go to settings and enable the shaders checkbox. From there, you can either select a preset quality, or you can customize the quality of the shadows in advanced settings.

Oh no, that's a thing for any KZbinr no matter how small the channel. Use Brave Browser to block the annoying ads.

@@dee23gaming I normally use Firefox with Ublock Origin. But I was on the app to see notifications. Currently, the mobile version of Firefox does not have KZbin notifications.

@@JoeEnderman It used to be a thing that ads were exclusive to big channels to earn some small money through Google AdSense, but KZbin is tripling down on the annoying ads and giving it to every video these days, and nobody gains anything out of it. If I could disable ads on my videos, I'd do it. Thanks for the support though, I appreciate it 😊👍
