I didn’t know you could do it in this way… before I thought and only done a pull and a bell with a 9 volt and some wires lol
@Sirenfireproductions5209Ай бұрын
You can basically put wires to a battery on those. I put some cut off headphone wires on my speaker strobe. So basically you don't need a panel unless your wanting to set off all of the fire alarms automatically.
@HighVoltageMadnessАй бұрын
I used to do it all the time until I got a panel. My first "system" was just a cheap 24v power adapter wired to a pull station and 2 horn strobes. But you should really get a panel. Get a conventional panel because its much easier to set up for beginners. And you don't have to have specific addressable devices to make it work.

Nic I did like the video. But I do have a question for you. Was this Davis’s homework? If yes, why didn’t you just introduced Davis? And why didn’t you have him explain it?
@nics-systems-electricАй бұрын
He was in the video. I explained it because I'm the one that mostly built it and the one that designed it so I can explain it best I've been doing this for years.

While I appreciate your insight as to how these things work, it is not legal to install that into a school. All fire alarm systems in Schools have to be UL Rated and tested. They have to have battery backup, supervised signaling and detection loops and supervised monitoring through a central station. But, ANY detection and or alerting system on a building that has none is better than nothing. Old fire alarms were nothing more than dry cell batteries and relays. They worked for decades until solid state systems became the norm. There are still many older systems out there still waiting for some thing to trip them. Keep working with it but try to get someone to teach you the finer points in systems design and code compliance.

He knows the code compliance though.

But how about with a smoke detector. I understand they don't pass nowhere near enough current when in alarm condition to run a bell directly, hence why you need some sort of current amplification device (aka transistors) what is normally done by the alarm panel.
@nics-systems-electricАй бұрын
I have done a video before showing this with a smoke detector it is possible

@@nics-systems-electrici tried your exact setup in your previous no panel video and was not getting enough voltage from smoke or heat detectors to trigger any notification devices on alarm. Not sure how you did it but im looking into a setup with a relay

Hey man I'm really struggling in life, financially. Health wise All around. I just had a major panic attack and starting writing this still freaking out. I'm a beginner to this. I don't have my state low voltage license. I'm interested in doing something noble. I'm interested in fire and security alarms and moderately interested in computer networking and electrical. Where is the best place to learn if you're a beginner trying to figure out if this trade is for you, if fire alarms are for you?
@nics-systems-electricАй бұрын
I'm sorry to hear. It's different everywhere with how things work. I started an electrical apprenticeship here in Canada however I am currently not working after my first year of actual schooling I finished earlier this year. But usually the way to go about it is an apprenticeship.
