Hey Mike! Push the weld on aluminium. Your gun angle and distance looks good. Wire speed sounds close. I think all you need to do is start pushing instead of pulling. Maybe turn the heat up slightly but I would run a push pass first and see what it looks like. Another thing for aesthetics would be to brace your self against something. I see you standing and welding mid air most of the time which makes it hard to keep a steady hand. If you set your piece up in a way that you can slide your arm along an edge or surface to keep your hand steady you will get a straighter weld. Keep it up! Loving the enthusiasm and all the videos!

This worked MUCH better.Pushing and a bit more heat was the trick. Thanks for the advice!

Thanks for all your time making the vids. Very cool. Get yourself some diablo cutting discs for a 4.5 inch grinder. Cuts like butter.

HOLY SHIT!!!! please go to the dollar store and get a couple of candles and wax everything that comes in contact with aluminum (belts, saw blades, cut-off wheels, flap disc, grinder wheels etc.) that flap disc was near new!!!

another tip for you. for cutting aluminum, a wood chop saw with a a finishing blade works very well
@Localhost1274 жыл бұрын
That would work well with the skil saw right? I am gonna pick one up tomorrow!

@@Localhost127 A skill saw works good for cutting sheet aluminum, a little sketchy cutting smaller stuff like flat bar, angle, ect... both are very loud while cutting, but cuts aluminum like butter.

beauty is only skin deep when it comes to women and welding, grinding discs are the make up of the welding world. So as long as it holds you should be fine.

MORE HEAT!!!!! never drag an aluminum spool gun!!! turn down the wire speed till the arc sounds like a shaver, zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.....

@Aluminium workboat project I'm not sure what you mean by that..... maybe, you are talking about setting up your MIG to push Alum. wire??? it'll work, if you have a brand new liner installed and you are super careful not to bend the lead too tight. other-wise get ready for a nice Alum. rats nest!!!! ;)
@willnicoletti4 жыл бұрын
@Aluminium workboat project hey, yep i agree. that would the ideal setup. i use a 20' lead on my Lincoln SP250 MIG so a push pull would be the only way. how long of a lead are you using for your boat fabrication?
@willnicoletti4 жыл бұрын
@Aluminium workboat project 10m?!?!? that's bad-ass!!!! i'd like to see some video on that when you get it set up. :)
