Mini shotgun shell fold crimp, Can it be done?

I went through a few issues with roll crimps on shot loaded mini shells. Now I need to fold crimp.

Not sure if you know, but MEC does make a 1-7/8" minishell kit. Part# 100MN9241 $35.99 at BPI.

*FYI: For more reliable cycling through the pump or slide actions and SOME autos : A 60 mm length 'before crimping' or 2.340" might be a better length. 60mm or 2.34" to 2.35".*

Made me some birdshot minishells a few months ago, for use in my combination rifle (Tikka 70, 12 ga/222 Rem.) Works really well. :) It has a full constriction barrel, so i can't shoot 12 ga slugs in that one :)

I had a combination gun when I was younger it was a 20 gauge to 222. We called it a turkey gun

It can definitely be done, I have some factory short shells from challenger and federal that are star crimped.

I've never tried the BB load in a short shell before but I have hundreds loaded up in 2 3/4 hulls .

Question: can you just take 00 buck pre-existing shells cut them to the length you need to make shorty shells and just remove the compression area on the cups and put the cup and all the buckshot back in recrimp it as a shorty shell, does that work and/or cause any problem when shooting? In this video you removed that compression area and reused the cup and added in the what looked like steel balls. No issues with that compression area removed on the wad/cup?

If you want to make Shorty shells, there is load data at ballistic products. I would not cut off the shell take the compression out and put it back together and shoot it factory buckshot loads are too hot and have too much powder. Each shell is a custom load. I would not do what you are saying. There would be too much pressure.

could you tell me. is this possible to shot lead naked in the shell without a contoured wad surounding it? i want to reload my own. i have the powder, primer and lead. i would be making my own bottom and top wad out of cardboard. i am wondering if the lead would melt in the barrel, since it would no longer be protected by the plastic wad.

Do you by chance have any recipes for the Federal Shorty 1.75 in shell? With Pyrodex RS. I can't find any smokeless around & would like to reload these for a SxS Damascus shotgun.
