I have it in blue and I saw the Cobalt one after I bought it at Lowe's and when I picked up the box I realized the US general was much thicker steel it's definitely a lot heavier and better quality made

Yeah! US General has created an outstanding mini tool box. I bought a black one over the weekend to keep on the desk to hold a bunch of EDC items. I’ll probably buy another one on Black Friday! 😎👍🏻

Went to buy one on three different days after being told by a different story each day. Now I don't even care and questioning if Harbor Freight is where my money should be spent. Have been lied to on three or four occasions by the store employees. Tools may be good, but the workers suck.

I tried buying the US general from HF. Sold out at all the local stores. Bought 2 Clutch tool boxes. Ok but, (and who would have thought it???) The Harbor freight is a much better tool box. Yay for HF!!

I got the grey Kobalt box in June, and it looked nice for $20, but there wasn't a display model to check out. The drawers suck and often won't open because i think the powder coat finish is binding up onnthe slide rails. After returning it and ordering a new one, i had the same problem. It's OK for now, but definitely getting the General model when I find a grey one. It's perfect for keeping my supressor tools and adapters separate from the other tools.

Give the Kobalt to the wife. My wife has two of them (one blue and one pink), and I even got her a 3 drawer base cabinet for the pink one. She loves them, and uses them for jewelry boxes. Now she can't wait until our local Harbor gets some in. (We're generally [pardon the pun] seemingly low on the pecking order.)

@ I would be willing to pay more money for nice drawer slides, better lid, lock, etc. I know it’s intended as sort a novelty but I like the little box to hold small items and free up drawer space in my big boxes.

I saw these Kobalts a while back and saw all the hype on KZbin. Got to Lowe’s and checked them out and couldn't believe how jenky the drawers were. I know they were only $20, but I'd never use something that is such junk. Another example of being very cautious when watching online reviewers. The HF version seems much better

Picked up the Kobalt, what a Krok of Krap. Needs at least anti friction tape on the rails (and good luck removing the drawers) and toolbox liners hacks just to make the drawers somewhat bearable to open and use. At that, point you might be looking close to $40 of a glorified turd. Not even gonna try. HFT and U.S. General FTW.

Sam’s Club has his (black) and hers (pink) versions of these for $20 and get this? They have a front locking latch with a top carrying handle AND include some basic tools in them as well. The value over the Kobalt and HF will make your head explode. 😂

i think its funny everyone hopped on this bandwagon but i bought my kobalt one 2yrs ago at Lowe's from a christmas sale. And i use it for holding rolls of tape and it honestly just sits on top of my tool chest.
