Great video series Tony - well done on the subscribers - very deserved, Watched your channel for a long time and my favourite was the Anglia. I don't do the amount of spraying you do, (mostly restoration type panel work and prep), but your tips over the years along with people like the Gunman, Brian @ Paint Society and more recently Gavin Pink have helped me raise my jobs to the next level and with it my enthusiasm for what I do, (self taught sprayer too!). Thanks - keep up the good work.

In many cases I think single stage is really under rated , that looked fantastic, you did an excellent job , and that’s really good advise about using panel wipe on a rag for the inside part. My next three paint projects are all single stage paint and they’re all Toyota white , 2 in 045 commercial white and then a Supra in 040 super white

Very very nice finish from the 2k gloss Tony, even off the gun on those panels it looks like a cob finish so I do hope the Kapci scheme will work well for you mate. Great live chat last night again mate with a good turn out as well there was quite a few on the chat so with all the views this month and passing the 30k subscribers milestone your channel is really taking off mate and you certainly deserve it as I know how much work you put into getting it where it is 👏👌👍 You were saying that the kapci base you tried was mixed 1:1 so were you using solvent Tony as I thought the water was 30-40% 🤔 probably wrong but all I know is that I'm loving the kapci solvent basecoat, it covers in around 2 good coats then a drop coat if needed, ok bud thanks for doing the vid and will chat soon 🙏👍
@TonysRefinishingTV2 жыл бұрын
Yes mate we’re adding the solvent system into the shop mate for speed and it’s a double system with the gloss and solvent base in one unit so it makes sense tbh
@JohnWD40TC022 жыл бұрын
Ah right I thought you would be staying water base but yeah the solvent is cheaper, faster and covers well. We will both be using the same basecoat then 🤔 I know where to come for my tinters then 🤭😂😉 kidding mate I wouldn't do that to you bud 👍
@TonysRefinishingTV2 жыл бұрын
Lol 😂 yeah our systems will be the same mate , we may put the water one in too tbh and have all three for training reasons but we shall see
@JohnWD40TC022 жыл бұрын
Yeah well there is no rush once you have the solvent and direct gloss the water system can be added at any time. Sorry to be a pain mate but I'm trying to work out how to decide which colour primer/wow I need for whatever colour basecoat I'm using and my colour blindness is not helping. I've read somewhere that if you take a picture of the basecoat colour then convert it to black and white that will give you the correct grey shade colour for the primer 🤔 do you know if that's right 🤷♂️ 😂
@TonysRefinishingTV2 жыл бұрын

Cheers from Orstaya mate. You are making me re-evaluate single stage 2K again. One question, as this is a 2K, can a 2K clear still be put on top? I know current technology good quality 2K clears over here have a good UV protection, but am not so sure about the single stage 2K paint you use here. The sun is really harsh on paints over here in Oz. Recommendations?

Awsome work yet again can I ask what paint would be recommend for home use
@TonysRefinishingTV2 жыл бұрын
It’s one technically I can’t recommend for mate as these are professional products meant for booth use , 2k dries quick and is easy enough to use but the fumes ect are not good , waterbase is better I guess but takes a long time to dry if not in a booth and again solvent base and clear is very harmful but would do a great job if used right whichever you choose for home use you need extraction and a good mask setup
@ivanbrennan94052 жыл бұрын
Tony. Really enjoying these videos. Thanks to you I've started getting together all the kit so that I can learn to spray at home. One question I have that I don't think you've covered much is how do you go about stripping old paint off? The panel I'm painting has old crash damage and many layers of paint and filler. It's a bonnet from a 2002 mini cooper s. I'll also need to do the front bumper. There's been some sort of reaction on the old paint and it's been flaking off. Id like to start again from bare metal. The paint strippers I've tried barely touch it and I'm reluctant to use a grinder to sand the paint off as it'll take ages and I'm worried about marking the metal. Any chance of a video covering this? Cheers, loving your work 🤘
@TonysRefinishingTV2 жыл бұрын
Hi mate on metal paint stripper should do it tbh and on plastic you’ve no choice but sand it back to smooth paint mate but yes I’m try to cover it i a video sometime soon
@ivanbrennan94052 жыл бұрын
@@TonysRefinishingTV that would be great if you could gover the basics like that on the build up prior to getting fresh paint on. I have some more industrial paint stripper on its way so hopefully that'll work. Cheers for replying! Looking forward to getting to grips with the "dark art" that is painting cars
@TonysRefinishingTV2 жыл бұрын

Hi Andy if you check the links in the description and head to there Facebook page you can contact them direct for mixed colours mate it’s impossible to have every mixed colour on there website but if you contact them direct you can have any colour gloss or base mixed and shipped direct

Question if you've time stud , I'm currently doing up a copart front end RTC , I've bought a used bonnet and wings in black , I've bought 2k gloss (white to code) Would i get away with wet & dry 800 and gun them up for coverage or should I prime first?
@TonysRefinishingTV2 жыл бұрын
So you only need to prime them mate if the paint underneaths in bad condition you can easily sand it back with p500 dry and shoot ontop if the paints sound
@steveswain46462 жыл бұрын
Why don't you wet on wet the hole pannel rather than spot them in, Is it for cost or material thickness. We always cover the hole pannel which gives it a nice flat finish.
@TonysRefinishingTV2 жыл бұрын
There’s just no need to cover the whole panel tbh the less the better really for cost and risk of issues
