Oh my days! That poor little fellow, you are so so kind for working on him, you said what I was thinking watching, that farriers don't like working on Mini's, cause they're too difficult to work on, just because they're small, they still deserve to loved and cared for properly, he will feel so much better now, hopefully he can find a loving forever home, take care guys 👍💙

TBH I feel like this *is* a rescue donkey. There's a plethora of supposed "feel good stories" about animals [particularly livestock or wild] living in pain or distress, but presented as "surviving against all odds". Anything from the dodo comes to mind.

I have a suggestion that might make the Ferrier more comfortable when working with the small donkeys & ponies- How about building an elevated platform? Build a ramp to walk them up. Fence off opposing sides w/hinged gates that can be opened to which ever hoof is being worked on- just a thought… I so enjoy these videos! The patient, kind farriers addressing the needs of these animals is heartwarming. Thank you❤

I never seen a farrier do the heels first on neglected hooves like this. I've seen farriers do the toe first then the heel. Happy to see this little guy got his hooves trimmed! I hate seeing neglect like this! I have seen a lot worse cases! Unfortunately not all of those horses or donkeys have a chance for a better life! Thanks to founder or other leg issues, because their owners didn't care.

From all the mud balls on that pony he has only been able to lay down for long periods of time. How sad for him. Was the person who brought him a new owner? Or a long time owner who finally had their conscience kick into gear. You do great, kind work and teach as you work. I will never be a farrier but I sure appreciate your work.

Awww poor little guy! It looked so uncomfortable the way he was walking at first. I can only imagine it’d be like having a pair of horribly twisted and lumpy pair of shoes glued to your feet. Well, at least attention can keep him a bit more comfortable.

Understanding how difficult and uncomfortable it is for the average height farrier to trim these little animals, have you considered building a stand/ stock for the little equines to use? Something similar to a wider sheep or goat stand with sides to prevent stepping off, and adjustable height. One could even add rubber mats for animal comfort in these particular circumstances.

You always cut heal and toe not cutting the toe if the hoof is over grown and it can be done in short times and if they are tiny horse you can train them to lay down then you can cut their hoofs while they are down on the ground and if you train them to be quiet while they are down on the ground and you can train mini horse to lay down when they are a foals

Equines that live wild travel for miles every day and wear their feet naturally. Ones with bad feet tend not to survive.

i think because they are always running around, all day on lots of different terrain/ ground is what helps them keep their hooves trimmed :)
