Absolutely, I love just wondering around looking for inspiration. There's a good few games that I've drawn ideas from recently. Thanks for commenting and watching mate.

A cleaner and more secure way of building these is a Styrene sheet rather than cardboard. The glue is not hot, it makes very thin edges and it welds the parts into a whole. Great, simple build, though. Thanks for the work and sharing it as well.

Great idea. I'll have to try that out. Thanks for the tip. Cheers.

Thanks man, they need a little more care than i gave them here to keep them clean looking, but they work well. Cheers!

Thanks mate. It's a great little detail to add to the table for sure. The hot glue was a bit to handle with this one, but still worth it 😀. Appreciate the comment and thanks for watching.

Might be easier to put the speaker together by taking a small square of foam and gluing the the narrow ends of the speaker sheets around the edges. So your initial points of contact aren't the thin edges of card, but the solid edge of foam board. From there, it's just a matter of using glue to join the card edges to each other. Moreover, the foam board square makes a solid point of contact for gluing it to other things, or other things to it (such as those cylindrical things inside loud speakers).

Awesome advice mate. I'll be sure to do that on the next one. Thank you for the comment!

How about making the template kinda like a box? Make it so the back plate is a single piece with all the walls. Then make a super small truncate cone with air dry clay, glue it to the inside of the square back, then use maybe superglue to affix the walls to each other? Just me being a chair coach.
@RFDHobby4 жыл бұрын
Sounds like a great idea! Probably easier and cleaner looking than I have here. Thanks mate.

Man, I absolutely love specific items like this for the table. Scatter terrain is SO useful. I have been searching for a video for a small portable generator build, if you or anyone knows of one, please let me know. I'm creating objective tokens that match their function and a portable generator for my zombie survivors just seems on point.
@RFDHobby3 жыл бұрын
Thanks mate, I'm a huge fan of small scatter terrain pieces as well, they can really make a table feel more realistic. I haven't seen a portable generator piece yet, but I'll have a think about that, sounds perfect for some Walking Dead/Zombie action. Cheers.

good one! I made similar ones from thin plasticard and plastic cement in 1:64 scale. Upside - no glue clean up, downside - super fiddly for my sausage fingers ;)
@RFDHobby5 жыл бұрын
Thanks olovski. This hot glue was equal parts good and bad for the project, the set time great, the mess and extra glue visible on the inside of speakers, not so great. But it all works.
@jagelsdorf13855 жыл бұрын
My glue gun is cursed so I will have to think of a different way to do this type of thing... maybe one could use some kind of cardboard bracing on the outside, glued with pva? Hmmm... But they do look really good, especially after cleanup, and the roughness works well for the battlefield.
@RFDHobby5 жыл бұрын
@@jagelsdorf1385 yeah, the glue here is a bit of a problem, I'm sure there's a middle ground between hot glue and PVA that would do a better job. I just hate buying more stuff if I think I can get away without it. I'm a cheap bastard. :)

August 8, 2020---Thanks for the how to video....build looks great. Got back into modeling after 15 years, but going for 1/35 scale zombie/apocalypse dioramas instead of aircraft/armor. Ben checking out everyone's how to video's....trains, RC, doll houses, etc. just to learn new technics. And been looking at putting a small speaker on at least one of them. From KZbin, there's a weird ass siren going off which wasn't working properly. Plan on putting it on a building with people being attacked by zombies. With your how to, I know how to make my siren.
@RFDHobby4 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for comment. Hopefully these build techniques translate quite easily to your 1/35 scale needs. I've also just got myself The walking dead, All out war, board game recently and I'm excited to try and build some more terrain for that. I love the post-apocalypse setting and scenery, so I'm hoping to use some of what I've made so far in that and making more. Best of luck with your dioramas and building. Thanks for watching mate.

@@RFDHobby Nephew's into board games BIG time, like he's got 100+ and better yet, he and the rest of his family (Mom, brothers, etc.) come over a couple times a month for board games. Watched 'em one time play some zombie game which was pretty interesting. You might check out Hirst Arts which has a lot of 28mm silicone mold mainly fantasy, but also some sci-fi stuff. Used to have my 3 nephews over at my place, along with 7 other kids to play D&D. Made a few different taverns that had 2 levels....tavern below, bedrooms above. When I quit playing gave the 1 nephew everything I had except those molds, which I have a dozen or so. One of them is for a rock wall, kind of like you'd see in the countryside, along with squares to simulate a flat, rock floor. I used a couple of the rock wall castings to make a silicone mold so I could cast 6 sections at a time instead of just one from Hirt's mold. Cut up the floor castings so they're smaller, made a silicone mold of them so now I got patio blocks like people walk on have leading up to there house. At 67, it ain't easy for me to learn new tricks, but trying to learn basic CAD so I can make my own designs, along with people on another CAD program. Have about 1,000 or so free 3D files for furniture, appliances, etc. Plan on buying a 3D resin printer this year to start printing a bunch of stuff but have also downloaded a bunch of fantasy stuff (figures and props such as chests, etc.) that I'll print and give to said nephew.

@@oldbaldfatman2766 Sounds great, you should jump into those board games by the sounds of it, I've heard many stories of people moving from the sidelines and into them to find a new passion. I have some Hirst Arts molds myself, and I've made a few towers and fantasy accessories. They are fantastic quality and a great way to make amazing buildings. I haven't tried to make my own molds, but that sounds like the way to go so I don't have to do 16 casts for one build. The 3d printing looks really interesting too, I've considered the resin printers myself for printing figures, but I really enjoy the process of scratch building my terrain from lots of different things at this stage. It does seem like things are moving in that direction, and people are more comfortable playing around with that in regards to figures and terrain. I wish you all the best with your dioramas, keep in touch and let me know how you go with it all. Would love to hear how it goes.

@@RFDHobby I use Smooth On which is a 2 part silicone. This way you don't have to weigh anything. However it does have a limited shelf life, around 6 months. After which, it's unusable. I've also used it on plastic kit parts, but make sure I use a mold release (Mann 200) on the silicone molds each time when making multiple copies in resin to make removing the piece easier. And been taking photos of my 2 builds and hope to post them on KZbin as a way of pay back to those who have been showing off their stuff.
@RFDHobby4 жыл бұрын
@@oldbaldfatman2766 I'll keep that in mind if move into making some molds, I've really enjoyed the casting process so far, so it's quite likely at some point. I hope you do post up some pics/videos of your builds, would be great to see them.
