I never understood why people got so overjoyed over *really* old minis. Newer was always better as far as I saw it. Better technology, more experienced sculpting etc etc. I've now reached an age where the latest and greatest miniatures leave me cold and I yearn for the simpler, to my eyes, more characterful sculpts of yore (circa mid 2000's). Oh how times change!

About a month ago, getting hyped for the Dwarf release for TOW, I perused the GW store scenery section and saw this piece, and thought about turning it into a hold entrance just like this! Down to the idea of making something more of a backdrop piece you put on the edge of the battlefield! So cool to see my idea executed like this, glad to see it wasn't that crazy and can look really good! Using the hills is also a great idea for it, create a great setting!

Cool Sallies are a common way for besieged forces to reduce the strength and preparedness of a besieging army; a sallyport is therefore essentially a door in a castle or city wall that allows troops to make sallies without compromising the defensive strength of fortifications.

Vey geat looking dwarf terrain. I hope to make some Dwarf terrain in the future as I have tons of dwarf models from Warhammer Fantasy that I would love to use for Old World (probably need to upgrade their bases first though) and I think an entrance to a mountain keep would go well with them. This terrain looks fantastic Stu. Really clever use of many different components. I like the way you put it all together, that would be my kind of style as well because if I tried to plan it out too much the risk would be that it would never progress beyond that. Admittedly when I saw the bark in bags from Element Games I had visions that if I tried ordering that over here of the meme videos with FBI smashing the door down as they came barging into my house 😂. Either that or the Spanish Inquisition seeing as our customs guys are very full on and wood is often a focus point of theirs. I jest of course they are pretty reasonable as long as they can see there aren’t any signs of wood borers Mind you I still remember a guy asking if I had fruit in my bag or had ever had fruit in my bag and he was outraged (a little anyway) that I couldn’t remember seeing as I had had the bag for many years. That was just visiting Tassie from the mainland too not even coming in from overseas.
@MiniatureRealms5 ай бұрын
😂 There’s a reality TV show that airs over here about your Boarder Force, it’s basically just people getting busted at the airport for 30 mins, they did always seem extra careful about plant and foodstuffs. I’m sure you have a local supplier of cork bark if needed, they are a staple for railway hobbyists.
@Svengar5 ай бұрын
@@MiniatureRealms I’ve watched a fair number of episodes of that plus the UK version. The AUS guys are ready hot on food and wood/plants. Crazy the stuff that people try and bring in undeclared. Hopefully I can get something like that locally…or I’ll just go bush and get some bark from trees
