I love all your minimalism videos! It's so refreshing seeing others who don't want a ton of "crap". I get made fun of for wearing things over and over and not buying new shit all the time like other people. But I'd rather not have things I don't need! I wish more people understood the tiny movement. Loved the video Amanda!

thank you so much! I love having less, there are so many benefits! I'm so happy that though maybe it isn't mainstream, I feel like a lot of people are starting to come around to the minimalism/tiny movement :)

Amanda! I love your minimalist videos, it's so inspiring. I started my minimalist journey after ending a 3 1/2 year relationship and moving back with my parents. I never realized that I was shopping out of boredom and trying to find happiness cuz I was missable during my relationship. I literally sold and got rid of more than half of my wardrobe and it was great. I'm less stressed and more relaxed. Now that fall is coming up in a few month is Texas, I got more clothes to look over. Keep going and I love you girly! Starting my journey to travel more.going to NYC for the first time in September.

Hi there! Just started watching your videos and wanted to give you a tip to help extend the life of your clothes considering how much wear time they get. Hopefully it's useful/informational :) Jeans especially don't need to be washed very frequently, really only when they are visibly dirty. When they get smelly, just put them in an airtight bag in the freezer overnight to kill the bacteria that are making them smell icky and you're good to go! Also, putting clothes in the dryer can be rough on the fibers and cause them to wear out faster (where do you think the lint sheet comes from?). When I'm done washing mine I just put them on a hanger and let them air dry overnight. So stoked to see you traveling so much and glad you found a lifestyle which makes you happy and fulfilled. To many more adventures in the future :)

@foxdoglucy7 жыл бұрын
Amanda Round the Globe hi, I'm wondering how you do it too. How do you cover the cost?? do you travel by plane? where do you stay e.g. in a hotel?
@AmandaRoundtheGlobe7 жыл бұрын
I have loooooooaaaddsss of videos on this, but I'll break it down quickly. I saved up $15k USD before I left, traveled off that for 11 months, and then applied for a working visa in Australia. I've been in Australia since Sept 2016, working, which covers the cost of living, plus I don't spend a lot so I end up saving roughly 50% of my income usually (if I am working full time). I'm currently an au pair so I am getting free room and board included in my pay, and then I get paid a small amount on top of that. I'm saving about 70-80% of my income right now, so that I'll be able to travel for two months after I leave this job. I also make some money by working remotely for 2 different companies (not a liveable wage, but a little side income). I very VERY rarely stay in hotels, I usually travel very budget-consciously, and relatively slowly. Because I only tend to take flights once every 2-3 months, it's not too expensive, and I don't go far. I use budget airlines and I save money wherever I possibly can. It's just about priorities :)
@foxdoglucy7 жыл бұрын
Amanda Round the Globe thank you for describing what you are doing. You must be doing great. I don't work full time but only make litle money part time and occasionally. My husband works full time but don't make enough money to pay for all of the cost of living so my parents help me a lot paying many of our bills such as electric power bill...So we are worried about our future and we find it expensive going holiday once a year for about 4-5 days. We've calculated that 5 days of holiday will cost 600€ for food, hotel and rent of a car - flight cost not incluted as soon as it'll be present from my parents.

Amanda Round the Globe 600€=658$

I am wondering. With very minimal clothing. How often do you do your laundry?
@AmandaRoundtheGlobe7 жыл бұрын
once a week! I usually wear things more than once. Those poor black jeans get worn daily in Sydney!

Your closet is amazing! I'm very jealous 😉 I've minimised a lot and finally found my personal style but I don't think I'll ever have a wardrobe that small! I love jumpers and skirts too much haha seriously though I live in central Queensland and I own at least 15 jumpers/jackets... everything else is minimised but I can't bring myself to part with these!
@AmandaRoundtheGlobe7 жыл бұрын
oh wow! Well minimalism is about making your life easier and more simple, but still keeping what you love. It's not about restriction - so if you find great value in those jumpers, keep them! :) Thanks for your comment!

Hey Amanda! I really like your Videos! I have a question :) How do you do the Laundry when you have to wash your jeans and your sweatpants? I really want to know how you handle with your laundry, do you not miss your pants in this time ? :D
@AmandaRoundtheGlobe7 жыл бұрын
I'll switch off washing my pants and sweatpants, or I'll wear shorts and wash both my jeans and sweatpants. I do laundry at the house I live at (we have a washing machine), and if I need to I can switch bottoms and throw the ones I was wearing in with my sheets when I wash those later the same day :)

Hi Amanda! I really enjoyed this video and everything you wear! But, i have to ask you a question: How do you do the laundry? I mean, do you wait everything gets "dirty" to you wash everything together? Or do you do the laundry very often? I'd like to have a minimalist wardrobe, but I think that I would have nothing to wear while my clothes are being washed or getting dryed. I live in Brazil and here the most of people doesnt have a dryer machine. We have to wait the clothes get dry naturally! I dont speak English fluently, but i hope to have made myself understood (:
@AmandaRoundtheGlobe7 жыл бұрын
I will wear things more than once and wash everything in a load at the end of the week! Whatever I wear on laundry day gets washed the following week :)

How often do you wear your clothes? Once? In the cooler months I can get away with wearing pants 2-3x before washing and tops 2x but once it gets hot and I get sweaty, only once ! Just curious what others do
@AmandaRoundtheGlobe7 жыл бұрын
I wear the heck out of my clothes lol. I do laundry once a week (usually just because I'm running out of socks and underwear by that point), and I'll just throw everything I've worn into the washing machine. My jeans get worn pretty much daily, and my sweatpants I wear every single night. I usually wear the same tops over and over too, I could probably get rid of some of my tops to be honest because I'll go a week or longer without wearing them (which is insane when I don't have very many tops haha). I'm in Sydney though and it's fall here so I'm not really sweating or anything.
@foxdoglucy7 жыл бұрын
that's a very small minimal practical wardrobe but you don't have any winter clothes and shoes. You said it gets cold sometimes where you live, is it warm enough that you don't need to wear a woolly jumper and a warm jacket??
@AmandaRoundtheGlobe7 жыл бұрын
I wear sneakers and jeans and my hoodie almost every day :) My definition of cold is different than most people haha, it's just fall in Sydney. Most days are around 25-30 degrees celsius. I am considering getting a warmer jacket just to have, but I usually move when it gets too cold where I am hehe :)
